The 50" won't do 144hz at 1080p/1440p, but all the other sizes will (if that matters to you).

The TCL QM5K comes across as a bright, colorful budget Mini LED TV that is especially strong for bedrooms and everyday streaming. Picture quality is described as a solid baseline with good contrast, and Google TV feels very snappy. It also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and the built in sound is surprisingly good. The main caveat is the 50 inch model does not do 144Hz at 1080p or 1440p, so high refresh gaming is limited, and very picky gamers may want to look higher. A strong value pick if you want a lively TV without paying flagship prices.
bedroom TV shoppers who want a bright picture in a darker room because one commenter says it's a great bedroom TV that works well in the dark with a great picture at the price.
people replacing older basic edge-lit TVs who want a noticeable upgrade for the money because a commenter replaced an older edge-lit LG/Samsung with the 50" QM5K and says it's super bright (almost too bright), has great colors/contrast, surprisingly good built-in sound, and VRR up to 4K/60.
streaming-focused buyers who switch between services that use different HDR formats because commenters say it's convenient to have both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ when moving across streaming platforms.
buyers who care about a fast smart interface because one commenter says the Google TV interface is very snappy on their 55" QM5K.
gamers who are very picky about high-refresh 1080p/1440p performance because Rtings notes the 50" QM5K won't do 144Hz at 1080p/1440p (while other sizes can).
people who are trying to avoid certain brands due to Dolby Vision compatibility because one commenter warns not to get Samsung if you're using Dolby Vision standards and instead points to OLED LG/Sony for longevity.
buyers who don't want the TV to connect to the internet for setup/use because one commenter is concerned about privacy/"phone home" smart features and plans to avoid using the TV's smart functions.
ultra-competitive gamers who nitpick gaming performance because a commenter says gaming is where they'd advise caution-if you're a "snob," you may nitpick it to death.

Just set one up with the Rtings recommended settings and the PQ is very nice, anecdotally. Didn't look at color bars or other test patterns.
Google TV is better than others, and having both DV and HDR10+ is nice when switching across streaming platforms.
We have a handful or so of 5 yr old basic edge-lit LG/Samsung TVs. I replaced one of them with the 50" QM5K and was so impressed that I went out and replaced most of the rest of them with this model (a combination of 50" and 55" sizes.) It's super bright (almost too bright), has great colors, great contrast, surprisingly good built-in sound, and VRR up to 4K/60. It's considerably cheaper than what I paid for a basic 4K TV in 2020 money (not even factoring inflation and tariffs) and considerably better. TVs have to be one of the few things dramatically beating inflation.
I have an old 75" TV that I want to replace. I'm considering the 85" QM5K ($800) but waiting to see what happens to the pricing of the 98" QM6K and QM7K (QM5K not sold in this size.)
I preffered buying it from Costco who had it for the same price and it included a total 5 year warranty , but it sold out very quickly at that price. They have it in stock now at a higher price now. Their model was called QM6K Pro, according to google it has a better screen coating which prevents glare.
