The 50" won't do 144hz at 1080p/1440p, but all the other sizes will (if that matters to you).

The TCL QM5K comes across as a bright, colorful budget Mini LED TV that is especially strong for bedrooms and everyday streaming. Picture quality is described as a solid baseline with good contrast, and Google TV feels very snappy. It also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and the built in sound is surprisingly good. The main caveat is the 50 inch model does not do 144Hz at 1080p or 1440p, so high refresh gaming is limited, and very picky gamers may want to look higher. A strong value pick if you want a lively TV without paying flagship prices.
The TV can deliver very bright HDR performance for its class, with strong colors and contrast.
The Google TV interface feels snappy and the built-in sound is surprisingly good.
The set supports VRR up to 4K/60, which can help smooth gameplay on compatible sources.
Having both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ can make switching streaming apps more convenient.
The 50-inch model cannot do 144Hz at 1080p or 1440p, which limits high-refresh gaming expectations.
HDR brightness can fall short of higher QM series models, so it may not match the QM7K's peak HDR performance.
Gaming performance may disappoint if expectations are very picky, leading to nitpicking rather than satisfaction.
Smart features may require internet access during setup and use, which can raise privacy concerns for buyers who want to avoid phone-home behavior.

We have a handful or so of 5 yr old basic edge-lit LG/Samsung TVs. I replaced one of them with the 50" QM5K and was so impressed that I went out and replaced most of the rest of them with this model (a combination of 50" and 55" sizes.) It's super bright (almost too bright), has great colors, great contrast, surprisingly good built-in sound, and VRR up to 4K/60. It's considerably cheaper than what I paid for a basic 4K TV in 2020 money (not even factoring inflation and tariffs) and considerably better. TVs have to be one of the few things dramatically beating inflation.
I have an old 75" TV that I want to replace. I'm considering the 85" QM5K ($800) but waiting to see what happens to the pricing of the 98" QM6K and QM7K (QM5K not sold in this size.)
