I keep seeing comments about the 3s not being worth it and the 3 being worth paying double the price. I'm here to chime in with my own experience.
For some context, I am in my 40s, I don't wear glasses, and my prior experience with VR was with the original PSVR and those old Oculus/Samsung phone headsets. I hadn't used VR for 5 years since I got rid of my PS4.
I bought a new Quest 3s and a used Quest 3 within the past 3 weeks. I got the Quest 3s first and played with for several hours. Coming from the PSVR, this was a massive upgrade. The cordless experience, hand tracking, AR/Pass-thru experience are all pretty incredible. I enjoyed every minute of it. The only complaint I have about the headset is the strap. After hearing all the comments about the 3 being better, I went searching for a used one because I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a hobby that I'm just getting started on. I lucked out and found one with an elite strap for about what I paid for the 3s. I did some side by side comparisons, switching back and forth between the 3 and the 3s on the same apps/games (Beat Saber, Walkabout Minigolf, YouTube, and the Meta home).
The 3 has a greater field of view over the 3s. This certainly helps with the immersion and probably gives an edge in competitive gaming. The 3 also was noticeablely sharper, but the 3s is still plenty clear. That being said, I would still recommend the 3s over the 3 for most casual players that want to get into VR. It is very capable, having the same processing power. The deals have been better with more included software, there is an upgrade path if people feel the need to do so. If someone is more of an enthusiast or is really big into competitive gaming, going for the 3 is probably the way to go if they have the budget for it (or willing to buy used).

For Quest 2 and 3, individual pixels are very noticeable for normal eyesight. PPD on these devices is just 20.

You can use the Odyssey+ on Win 11 with the Oasis Driver for Windows Mixed Reality from Steam. It wasn't the smoothest to set up, but I got mine working and it works just fine after some tweaking. Despite that, here I am looking at a Meta Quest deal...

I am legally blind. lol. BUT, ironically, maybe I would have seen them before my cataract surgery because even though I was legally blind before it, I was INSANELY nearsighted to where I could put anything right up 2 inches from my eyes and read it. But now I am only barely nearsighted in one eye and barely farsighted in the other.

But I have read where a lot of people say oled does make a difference for vr, though.

Thanks. I would normally just find something newer, but don't you think at this point I might as well open it and try it? I have seen it LISTED for a lot on ebay still, but I highly doubt anyone is really paying the high asking prices for it anymore. If they would, maybe I'd sell it and get something new.

I actually got it for almost free too and then never used it because I didn't have a strong enough pc. When I got it, it was like $250 from samsung and I had a coupon of$250 off $250. Yet then didn't even use it. Sad. lol.

You should try it, of course. I'm mainly interested in the wireless aspect of the Quest 3/3S, and the simplicity of use so the Mrs can use it without my help.

Maybe I should list it and just see what anyone is willing to pay. One is listed for $750, but nobody ever buys it. I can't find any sealed one sold on there. If it could get $500 I'd sell it and then maybe buy me a $1k one. My guess is I'd be lucky to sell it for $200, though.

It's dead, but it was 100 Amazon credit. And for clarity, credit means it's only good on items that are sold/shipped by Amazon. An Amazon gift card can be used on almost anything. Credit must be items directly sold by Amazon itself.

I bought this in-store, is the box supposed to mention the Walking Dead game bundle at all? Mine does not. I haven't opened it yet, still deciding if I want to keep it.

Also haven't been able to get the ref app credits to work, seems somehow any account I make is blacklisted or something, everyone's link just gives an error.

Edit: got the ref to work by using my phone on cellular to log in. I also noticed my account had English (UK) as the keyboard option, maybe that was blocking it too. Opened it up and see the Walking Dead app is free for me on the store.
