Roku Streaming Stick Plus is a simple, fast streaming stick that stands out for easy navigation, quick app performance, and a remote that works well for basic use. It is especially handy for older relatives, travel, home automation setups, and replacing a lost remote, and the $19 price makes it feel like a strong value. The main drawbacks are Roku ads, no Android sideloading, and reports of bugs in the YouTube app. This model also lacks Dolby Vision, so it fits best when ease of use matters more than advanced tweaking.
Common Questions (5)
You cannot sideload apps because Roku does not run Android. It does allow unofficial/private channels, but that process is more limited than it used to be.
Yes. It is described as easy to use, with simple menus and a simple remote, and it is also useful for travel or as a way to get the Spectrum app.
Roku interfaces are described as faster and less buggy than many built-in Samsung or LG smart TV systems, and the apps can work well with home automation. It is also favored by shoppers who want a device that just works without extra setup.
At $19, it is considered a strong price for a fast, easy-to-use streaming stick, especially if you need a replacement remote or want a simple upgrade. The HD version with the same remote was mentioned at $16, so the Plus mainly makes sense if you want the 4K HDR model.
No, this model does not support Dolby Vision. If you want Dolby Vision and Atmos, the higher-tier version is the one to buy, and the price difference mentioned was about $6.

Doing some research, folks mention modern Rokus as an alternative to buying an Apple TV box to do this.
It's back to $30, which seems to be a regular sale price. I would have bought it just to play around with at $19.
