FYI, this isn't a Metroidvania. It's a linear stage to stage design. The dev did release a patch to address common pain points in early reviews (lack of checkpoints, playing through the whole level to fight the boss again, mini-bosses respawning, slow character movement).

What games do you recommend that are similar with Metroid Dread? I'm not sure if I can play Metroid Prime 4.
My favorite MV's this year are Blade Chimera, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, and Twilight Monk. Shinobi Art of Vengeance is somewhat a Metroidvania in the sense that you cannot fully explore stages without coming back after gaining new movement abilities, but backtracking is not required to beat the game, so it can be linear if you like.
Combat is extremely satisfying though.
Also, I was super excited for Prime 4, but all the reviews turned me off. I can't believe I'm passing on it.
Check out the Metroidvania Subreddit [reddit.com]! It's where I find most of my upcoming titles.
