Horrible company.
There isn't a single consumer electronics maker that doesn't have the same terms in their EULA/T&C/TOU.

This is not to defend these horrible agreements as they basically make it to where you are UNABLE to use "the thing" unless you agree to the invasion of privacy, complete loss of anonymity, agree to have usage of "the thing" revoked (at any time w/o notice), change in terms at any time w/o notice and agree to *arbitration* (in lieu of litigation) regarding any dispute you might have.

Singling out Roku is a little unfair in the context of the above (again - not defending Roku.)

This goes for pretty much every single piece of connected technology. There is no avoiding these terms unless you simple disagree and choose not to use "the thing", the country or state that you live in changes laws/regulations to eliminate this sketchy practice with companies, or, the Sun goes super nova and solves it all

Both Apple TV and Nvidia Shield do the same. The difference is, Apple and Nvidia data (as a matter of a business practice) are not sending your intimate data straight to an adversarial communist government

Where-as a TCL, Hisense, or other Chinese government branded companies (which are 100% owned and controlled by the Chinese government) "discretely" send any and all data gleaned through their devices straight to the government as a matter of "business practice".

Basically, at this point - it is a matter of choosing your poison and mitigating (as much as you can) the exfiltration of your data with any brand you chose to purchase or consume.

From searching it looks like the bass speaker goes for well over $120 {renewed} separately, so this is a good deal.

Yes, they all harvest data, which is why the HiSense TV that's behind my Nvidea Shield is not on a network. Only the Shield has a network connection. That way I don't have to worry about the HiSense phoning home with my personal data, nor do I have to worry about anyone accessing the cameras or microphones on the TV. That said, this post is about the Roku devices which is why I didn't make any mention of the other devices, but you are absolutely right. They are all terrible when it comes to exploiting personal data. Amazon's Firesticks are even worse.

wonder what they do when the TV has no camera or microphone? My LG you have to buy the separate remote for voice features to work, out of the box my 86" LG the biggest most expensive TV they sold that year they nickel and dime you over a upgraded remote for all features to work as advertised and that say so much about the brand. Its a fantastic TV for picture quality but LG really cuts corners in weird places on a FLAGSHIP model its stupid.

yeah, they are separate! $38 for the soundbar and $62 for the sub. Not sure I need/have a place for the sub, so might cancel that one.
