It was showing up earlier, but didn't last long.

I had it in cart. Could only ship it and there was a $45 restocking fee which is why I passed. Would have bought it if I could have inspected it at pickup or returned without a restocking fee.

There is not a restocking fee on open box. It says it but you can confirm with BB that there isn't. Returned things many times without even having to argue as it doesn't ring up the fee.

I looked around on their site and it seemed to apply to certain categories.

I bought an Apple iPad keyboard on a crazy open box clearance price last summer and didn't see the restock fee listed. Also bought an iPad Air open box over a year ago on a decent deal and didn't see a restock fee.

I know laptops don't have it. But cell phones do and the Ultra 2 has cell.

But yeah, I'll ask them the next time I'm in the store for future reference. I mean if it's open box someone else already paid the restock fee once so it makes sense it wouldn't have one, but Best Buy policies are so screwy and change so often.

I got a new Ultra 2 on the Costco deal a few weeks ago for $450 and haven't opened it yet waiting to see if I get a better deal before the end of the year. So I was debating this open box with possibly suspect warranty vs just keeping the new Costco one with full Apple warranty. And it kept flipping between allowing me to put it in cart and saying unavailable so there definitely weren't many available in my region.

It's on cellular devices and cameras and lenses, etc. I have returned all of those things that were open box and it doesn't apply but definitely check so you know from them and not some random guy on the internet

I've had mixed experiences sometimes they try to charge an open boxing fee but I always have to take it to the manager.
