I've gotten a $50 off on instacart, but takes half with fees.
Are fees lower on doordash?
The last time I ordered something semi fragile was a craftsman torque wrench from Lowes, but it had a 40% coupon so it was totally worth it to give the guy 10 bucks.

In other words: the item being returned and a store credit gift card for the original amount plus taxes are all set up in one transaction similar to how an exchange would be processed.
Not all employees know how to do this, but if you ask enough times for it to be processed as a gift return and explicitly not refunded to the original payment method, someone at one location should know.
