There's a few others not mentioned here, I also saw Serial Experiments Lain and Outlaw Star Complete for $4.99, and very highly recommended

Links work fine for me. If you want to buy the show, you have to do it within the AppleTV app which won't automatically happen on a windows PC

I only checked a couple, but under languages it lists audio for English and Japanese, and subtitles for English as well

Apple TV is offering a deep batch of anime box sets for $4.99, with standouts like Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Serial Experiments Lain, Hellsing, Samurai Champloo, Trigun, and Princess Jellyfish. The strongest appeal is value on classic series, especially where physical releases are out of print or expensive. Several titles also appear to include English and Japanese audio with English subtitles, though some listings are awkward to find, may open the wrong series, or require buying inside the Apple TV app. Access can also be inconsistent across devices, and purchased content does not carry over cleanly to Android or other services.

Common Questions (5)

  • The purchase often has to be completed inside the Apple TV app, not from a Windows PC browser. Some listings open the Apple TV+ app with a series page and a Buy button, and scrolling farther down can reveal a Box Set section.

  • Some listings show English and Japanese audio with English subtitles, and several titles have separate box-set listings specifically labeled for Japanese audio. The original Hellsing also includes both English and Japanese audio.

  • Yes. Serial Experiments Lain and Outlaw Star Complete were also found for $4.99, and Ergo Proxy was suggested as another Apple TV listing to check.

    GhosteChocoToto

  • There is no indication they transfer to Movies Anywhere or other services, and purchased content reportedly cannot be watched on Apple+ on Android OS. That makes the deal most useful if you plan to watch inside Apple's ecosystem.

    ovivlionebolaboi

  • No. These are digital box sets in Apple TV, not physical boxed editions, so they do not include a real box or disc set.

Link works fine on an iPhone. Which do you recommend beyond Bebop?

Weird. They did work for me. Took me to ATV+ app and the series list with a Buy button at the bottom.

Cowboy Bebop for sure, I've only watched Hellsing Abridged so can't compare the original.

I'm assuming they are all dubbed.

Try scrolling down further down the page. You should see a Box Set section

Box sets with no box. Few of these I'd jump on if they were physical.

If you like serious animes like Cowboy Bepop, then Hellsing is great. The original series is older, unless that is Hellsing Ultimate, which is slightly newer and much darker but shorter.
