Community Reviews
Knipex pliers wrenches are a compact, smooth jaw alternative to Crescent wrenches that excel at gripping and holding without teeth. The set gets praise for strong bite, slim jaws, and durability, with the regular finish handling galvanized steel pipe and cast iron without deforming a tooth. It also stands out for automotive work and spring tensioned hose clamps. The main knocks are the small size spread in this set and the high price versus cheaper alternatives, especially for lighter DIY use. A solid specialty set if you will use it often.
Common Questions (5)
For frequent use, the set is worth it because it is less bulky and performs better than imitations like Channellock and Craftsman V series. For DIY use, cheaper options such as Channel Lock or Amazon Basics clones may be good enough at a much lower price.
The set has held up well on galvanized steel pipe and cast iron without deforming a tooth, and it is described as top quality. Under very heavy load, they may break, so they are better suited to normal shop and home use than extreme abuse.
They grip better than Channel Lock and are noticeably better for spring-tensioned hose clamps and most automotive tasks. For general plumbing, the extra grip matters less, but the smoother jaws make them more useful when you need controlled clamping without teeth.
The set includes 6, 7.5, and 10 inch tools, but the 6 and 7.5 inch sizes are close together. A 12 inch pliers wrench may be more useful than the 6 inch size for some jobs.
These are smooth-jawed pliers wrenches with no teeth. They are meant for different tasks than toothed pliers, and both styles can be useful depending on whether you need a wrench-like grip or a more aggressive bite.

Yeah, I got an Amazon Basics set of Knipex Cobra clones (not smooth parallel jaws like this set) with bigger sizes (7, 10, and 12 inch) a few months ago on sale for $14.38. Good enough for me!
Just kidding.
I love both these and my toothed version though. Different tasks but both great tools.
