I wished that the set included a 12" one instead of 6" as 6" and 7.5" close to each other.

I'm sure for pros these are great, but as a DIY and non tool snob, I haven't seen the value out of my Knipex. Channel Lok is 1/4 the price and plenty nice IMO.

These are really more a replacement for EDIT - Crescent wrenches.

I have the regular finish on this set. They're the best channel locks I've ever used. I had to manhandle a bunch of galvanized steel pipe and some cast iron with one and I don't think it deformed a single tooth.

Yeah, I got an Amazon Basics set of Knipex Cobra clones (not smooth parallel jaws like this set) with bigger sizes (7, 10, and 12 inch) a few months ago on sale for $14.38. Good enough for me!

How do these compare to the Kmart groove lock pliers I bought in 1980?

Just kidding.

I have used a couple imitations (channellock, craftsman v series) and they aren't as good, generally too bulky. If you use often they are worth it.

I disagree. These pliers definitely grip better than channel locks. For most plumbing tasks, that doesn't matter, but if you're gripping spring-tensioned hose clamps or doing pretty much anything automotive, these are noticeably better pliers.

These are the pliers wrenches—they don't have teeth.

I love both these and my toothed version though. Different tasks but both great tools.
