The fanboys who had to get one already got one. This fanboy sales of 15-20 million sales was bound to happen no matter what. This was very evident in the 1st 3 month sales numbers. Earlier families that bought previous consoles were pushed out of buying power by the steep price increase. From 200/300 to 500 is steep. Games costing 80 n 90 is way too high when families are struggling to put food on the table. Others who value money are waiting for the price to drop considerably. These 50 or 100 cuts will not work unless it goes back to S1 release prices. Not everyone is going to pay 500 for outdated S2 specs to play just first party titles which are not many. For 3rd party titles they have ps5 n Xbox to run it better. Lack of exclusive titles n repeated rerelease of older titles are not helping with major sales. Not everyone has the time n money to spend on what they've already did.
Lack of chart bursting holiday sales for a newly released console is a big concern. Sales numbers falling heavily behind ps5 that was released 5 years ago gives the real picture. Nintendo's problems are only going to get worse with increasing memory prices, game key card debacle, greedy dlc pricing for unreleased games n share holders pressure for lacklustre showing. This is what happens when you replace people like Iwata who developed games as a passion with greedy money making business men. Nintendo really needs a reality check.
I think they will have to choose 1 of the 3 options..
1. Take a hit in profit by reducing the price to 300 or 350 to increase console sales and continue to make money on game releases. If console doesn't sell, then games don't sell. And reducing price should not be a concern for a billion dollar corporation like Nintendo
2. Wait it out a few years holding on to current prices even if the sales are low n see if the economy improves so many could buy the consoles again. Games sales will be poor as well with this option
3. Release exclusive Mario/Zelda titles that are a huge hit that boosts the console sales. This could take a few more years at the very least. Metroid n Pokemon releases seemed rushed n people have mixed feelings on these
Just my 2 cents.. you have every right to have your own opinion 👍
Good price! IMO the Costco deal that expired yesterday was a tiny bit better (same price but included 12 months online in addition, with $50 email code you could get by chatting an agent) but this is still super solid.

Switch 1 games....it is basically a switch 1 with a better screen and little more performance.
Then all the games are guess what , yes , all the same ones you have been playing for last 20 years with slightly newer graphics.
Respectfully,
Nintendo
Unless the Switch 1 games have upgrades, they'll look worse on the Switch 2 screen since the 540p/720p graphics have to be stretched out to 1080p.
But also, this is a system that's barely been out 6 months. Console launches are always rough because people expect all the 1st-party games to come out at once. I think next year will be a big one for Switch 2 though -- gen 10 Pokemon that will be exclusive, 3D Mario to go with the new movie (likely anyway), and 40th anniversary of Zelda.

I posted it and it got voted down endlessly by weird trolls here.

The only reason I'm really considering one is because it enhances some Switch games. Learning that Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is so much better on Switch 2 really took the wind out of my sails to play it on the original Switch.
None of the Switch 2 exclusives that have come out so far really appeal to me. I'm not going to have much problem waiting for the eventual improved version of the Switch 2, because the current screen on it is buns compared to Steam Deck OLED and Switch OLED.

Good point. The Switch 1 also had a pretty light first year in terms of exclusives, even if you count Breath of The Wild (which by all counts, was a Wii U game.) I think the only other big games in the first year were Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey, the latter of which came out over 6 months after launch. (And Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but again, that was simply a Wii U port.)
I purchased this 2 days ago for $499 from Best Buy, along with the 2 year Geek Squad protection. I didn't have the auto price adjust option on this purchase, so I contacted chat. They processed a refund for $54. I see a new order in my order history for -$54 now. It looks like they did it by returning and "repurchasing" it. Return window and everything looks the same, and it appears that the Geek Squad plan is still attached to the initial purchase. Hoping nothing gets screwed up by doing this lol. I just know how sometimes this stuff comes back to cause a nightmare elsewhere. Otherwise, great deal. Thanks for the heads up OP!

YMMV: if you got a switch 2 through Amazon, try to return is to see if they offer you money back during the return process
I got one from Amazon during black Friday for full price. A few weeks later, there was a 450 sell and so I returned. However, during the return, Amazon offered me $95 back to keep it instead.
So ended up making the price 430 with tax.

That's interesting, they reached out to you proactively or did you contact CS?

Some of the first party Switch 1 games do have updates that increase resolution and frame rate to match Switch 2. Most are free but Nintendo is charging $10 for some. Greedy.
