The fanboys who had to get one already got one. This fanboy sales of 15-20 million sales was bound to happen no matter what. This was very evident in the 1st 3 month sales numbers. Earlier families that bought previous consoles were pushed out of buying power by the steep price increase. From 200/300 to 500 is steep. Games costing 80 n 90 is way too high when families are struggling to put food on the table. Others who value money are waiting for the price to drop considerably. These 50 or 100 cuts will not work unless it goes back to S1 release prices. Not everyone is going to pay 500 for outdated S2 specs to play just first party titles which are not many. For 3rd party titles they have ps5 n Xbox to run it better. Lack of exclusive titles n repeated rerelease of older titles are not helping with major sales. Not everyone has the time n money to spend on what they've already did.

Lack of chart bursting holiday sales for a newly released console is a big concern. Sales numbers falling heavily behind ps5 that was released 5 years ago gives the real picture. Nintendo's problems are only going to get worse with increasing memory prices, game key card debacle, greedy dlc pricing for unreleased games n share holders pressure for lacklustre showing. This is what happens when you replace people like Iwata who developed games as a passion with greedy money making business men. Nintendo really needs a reality check.

I think they will have to choose 1 of the 3 options..
1. Take a hit in profit by reducing the price to 300 or 350 to increase console sales and continue to make money on game releases. If console doesn't sell, then games don't sell. And reducing price should not be a concern for a billion dollar corporation like Nintendo
2. Wait it out a few years holding on to current prices even if the sales are low n see if the economy improves so many could buy the consoles again. Games sales will be poor as well with this option
3. Release exclusive Mario/Zelda titles that are a huge hit that boosts the console sales. This could take a few more years at the very least. Metroid n Pokemon releases seemed rushed n people have mixed feelings on these

Just my 2 cents.. you have every right to have your own opinion 👍

This is too much for outdated tech with licensing communism.

Yup I think this is the way to go. You can get 2 cards for $250 each. This requires two separate transactions to get the 10% off each. So $450 for $500 worth of Best Buy credit. I paid $450 total and still have $13 left on my gift card, making it $437 after taxes. I should be able to sell the Mario kart code for about $50 on marketplace especially before Christmas, making this under $400. Great deal!!
The game is tied to the console. There is no separate code in the retail box.

There are too few good games for switch 2, not sure why they released it in this state, how can you release a new console without at least 5 blockbuster games

They said, "Nintendo is having these deals because they're not selling as well this holiday season," and you go on to list a number of reasons why Nintendo is not selling as well this holiday season.

Kind of sounds like your 2 cents support that person's opinion, no?

FWIW, Nintendo Consoles and Games rarely go down in price. Wii U never had a real price drop, where it never dropped below the lowest priced launch model. Switch never had a price drop, and in fact had a price increase recently.

So when was the last time we had a Nintendo console drop in price? Sometime during the Wii generation? They went through two console generations without a price drop? I think that the same thing is going to happen with the Switch 2. So in that case, why wait on buying the console when I know I am going to get it eventually? Wait 6 years to maybe save $50?

I bought mine at release and it was most certainly a scratch off code. Has this changed?

Edit: Seems like if it has a sticker on the box saying World Tour included then it's a scratch off. If it has an actual image on the bottom like these seem to have, then it's tied to the console and can't be sold Frown

Did the Switch 2 have a separate scratch off card for the Mario Kart code inside?

Not sure, we haven't opened it yet, it's a gift for the kids so it won't be opened for a few more days.

No scratch off. I bought console bundle direct from Nintendo eShop.

My first Nintendo since Wii and very bored with it! Mario kart is definitely meh, too easy and repetitive. Demo donkey Kong and the same.. boring. Don't feel like spending 70$ on games I'm not sure of. I was really looking forward to DK but playing the demo for an hour and it's enough.

Another few weeks then returning it unless I find a great game

The unit is nice though and the rumble are amazingly implemented fwiw
I don't know if it is just getting older but I was disappointed with Breath of the Wild. I dislike any games where the weapons break. There are basically 4 bosses and you are going around until you buff up enough. My favorite Zelda is A Link to he Past.

I haven't play the new Metroid yet but I just don't think I am going to buy this system. It has the same issue as the Switch did, not enough memory/power. It is fine when it is released but 2-3 years down the road third party AAA games will struggle with just 10GB of memory.

And like someone else mentioned, I wish there was a non-screen version. I maybe used it in portable mode once since I have owned the Switch.

A 3d mario is miles away, that team did Donkey Kong Bonanza. They would just be getting started.

And I have the same rationale you stated. Initial sales were pent up demand, then a swift decline as the market saturated quicker than expected. Then didn't plan killer games thinking Mario Kart would carry it for 6 months or more. And here we are with unofficially discounted consoles.
