And for the question not asked. These bootloaders are locked, you will not be putting any ROMs on them. Motorola will not give you the bootloader unlock code. Not to be confused with the NETWORK unlock after 60 days of service.

If you want to buy the phone and have it unlocked, simply purchase the phone, call Straight Talk, tell them you want the phone re-branded to tracfone, which they can do, and then buy a Tracfone $19.99 plan from Walgreens to have the phone unlocked after 60 days. The plan below is 90 days and is $19.99.

60 days of paid service. You'd rather get the moto stylus for free after paying for 2 months of service which would be $90.

You could pay the initial $45 and then a $20 card(90 day plan) from TracFone to have it unlocked. Cheaper but takes a little bit more time as you will need to start a whole new 60 days on TracFone.
The initial $45 Straight talk plan is not necessary. You can rebrand right away. and Activate it on Tracfone (either $20/90 day card from target or $15/mo online at TracFone). You do have to chat/call with TracFone to rebrand the device from Straight Talk to Tracfone.

They have the 2025 Moto G stylus for free if you sign up for $45 plan. 2 months/60 days of free service to unlock so $90.
For the second month you can use the Walmart straight talk 90 day plan for $20 to make it $65 total to unlock.
If you buy 2 and use a cashback site then it's less than $150 for 2 phones with 2 months of service at straight talk.

So walk me through this Tracfone rebranding procedure, do I turn the phone on before rebranding chat with Tracfone? After the chat is successful, then activate on Tracfone or chat will do that? TIA

Depending on the Tracfone rep, they will say:
  1. Cannot rebrand. Simply end the chat and start again.
  2. Can only rebrand with activation (existing TracFone line works as well). If you don't want to activate it at the same time, you can end chat and try again.
  3. Can rebrand. They will confirm once it is done.
In all three cases, they will ask for the IMEI and maybe the sim number from the red card that came with the phone. Once the phone is rebranded in their system, you can simply click activate on the TracFone website and follow the prompts. At this point, you can also transfer existing service on to the phone but the existing service will not count towards unlocking requirements until you buy additional service. 60 day clock starts the day you buy additional service on the phone (aka paid activation).

I heard someone on Reddit say that this method won't work. Have you tried it, or is it just your idea?

How does this work? During the first 30 days while the phone is with straight talk do you do something to move it to Tracfone with the $20 plan? In other words a number port?
This is what I have done in the past couple of months: I used the straight talk line for a month. Then, I logged onto the TracFone site and set up a new esim for service on their TracFone $10 plan, kept it for two months, and then contacted TracFone to have the phone unlocked. This time, I want to see if I can buy the $20 plan and then contact TracFone to have them set it up on an esim. As another option, you could buy the $25 straighttalk plan for the 2nd month ($5 more but less wait time and less hassle). The $25 plan is exclusively available through Walmart.com

How much hassel will you have in order to unlock the phone? Is it worth of doing so?

Walmart will reject your number on the $25 refill, it works only if you are currently on StraightSAVINGS! plan.

I still have two of their Moto G phones ($39.88 each) from last year that are still locked to Straight Talk. I learned the hard way that the $39.88 that I paid for each was for the phone, and i was required to purchase their plan for at least two months before the phone can be unlocked. The cheapest plan is $45 per month (i.e $39.88 + $90= $129.88 for one phone). Please think twice before going this route.
That's how the packaged prepaid phone market operates. It's a discounted phone locked to their network, with unlocking possible after certain amount of paid usage (60 days for Straight Talk/Tracfone).

Not tried. Heard on reddit my self so mentioned here. I just paid $75 for the second month for the 2 lines since chase had a 25% cashback. So my cost is around $140 after cashback for 2 phones. Will sell unlocked phone for $120 making the second phone $20.
