Lasko is also an American company that makes their stuff in China but compared to the no name Chinese heater brands these are UL and ETL certified so they will not burn your house down. Vornado is also great.

Not sure but I've not had an issue. We buy 1 of these every 1-2 years. Use them 24/7 in commercial environment (convenience store during store hours) as well as at home. Not had any issues. I run this specific model overnight in my bedroom. I'd still trust the UL testing over the no name.
