Dont buy fair condition. Its a display model (~5000 hours) along with missing remote and stand. If excellent go check in store before buying it!

Only thing is I don't think in store conditions you'd be able to tell if it had uniformity issues.

Really, I;d hate to get the D just because the F supposedly improved processing and brightness.

I actually saw a 77" available at my store last night for $950. I went in and had them open it up, and it had some scuffs on the screen where the styrofoam had rubbed on the display and rubbed off the anti reflective coating in multiple spots. The salesman tried rubbing it a little bit with a rag and it didnt improve, so I ended up passing on it. Such a shame.

Bought open box excellent. Got it home and it was a display unit with open box fair condition on the inside. Don't know how that happens but I was pissed.

I agree. It is definitely a gamble with open box.
