Instead of using a Micro SD on each camera, which TP-Link local storage model do I have to buy for 4 cameras?

I guess you are asking which tapo supports local network recording using rtsp and etc. You need to buy non-battery wired ones. Tapo battery solar panel ones doesn't support 24 hr recordings nor transmits rtsp streams.

I learned the other day some Tapo models can replace their firmware with Thingino which is open source and has more features

Not sure if the Tapo H500 hub works with all their cameras.
