From my experience, you want to require Merino wool, at least 40%--the higher the better. Any wool I've gotten that isn't Merino was NO where NEAR the quality and lacked all of the features I valued (no smell/antimicrobial, no sweaty feet (any other socks I go thru 2+/day), and when hiking: lol, the only socks I'll use now. My Merino wool socks consist of Keen and Darn Tough. I've bought others, but they don't leave the house & are only good for walking around the house in winter. Hope this helps
Are these worth the price? I purchased 3pairs of wool blend (15% wool) for $20. Obviously these are much higher wool content. But are they worth the extra cost? Never had wool socks like this and would use for hiking mainly.

Absolutely! I wore them daily in steel-toe boots in a woodworking shop/on site and they are a game-changer. No sweat, less fatigue, zero shifting, no smell. I couldn't recommend Merino socks more. You owe it to yourself to at try a pair.

You find the ones that are at least 40% have those features of not smelling especially if they get slightly wet?

I have the DT "Men's Number 2 Micro Crew Midweight Hiking Socks" which are 63% for the majority, and the Keens are Trail Run 61.4 Merino, but to be transparent, this 40% is the minimum I would consider. I'm picking up these tomorrow morning as well as the Costco ones, so will absolutely update and confirm/correct my opinion after I try them out. This 40% opinion is just based on reading other reviews.Do you have experience to share with 40% that I should take into consideration? I'm all about learning from others experience.

Unfortunately not. This is my first time trying wool socks so I don't really have any experience with them. Let me know how the Costco ones are.

I absolutely will. They are a game changer. It was a struggle to buy the first pair, considering they cost as much as a dozen I used to buy. But with hiking and work, absolutely worth it. I got burned buying Merino wool socks from Amazon, thinking they would be comperable.
