Update:-
It seems chatting with Lenovo sales most are able to get this laptop at $1120.30 that is another $110 less than what I had posted earlier.

========
If you missed TG sale, the same config with current discounts and a better GPU (5060 vs 5070) for approx. the same price is on sale at Lenovo portal through custom build.

The only reason I preferred to go this route was to get 32GB RAM which is expensive in today's date. The change from 16GB to 32GB only costs additional $60.

Click the link below and customize the laptop-
  1. Select None for OS upgrades
  2. Select 32GB RAM instead of 16GB
  3. Select 1TB storage instead of 512GB
  4. Apply LENOVOHOLIDAY5 coupon to discount the price by $64.84
  5. Apply EXTRAFIVE coupon to discount the price by an additional $68.25
  6. Net price $1231.90
If you have additional discounts through third party websites, student, military or CC this could bring the price down further.

Note: -
  • Estimated earlies delivery is set for Dec 30,2025.
  • If you are comfortable with 512GB storage with plans to upgrade in future, you can save an additional $55.

This Legion 5 Gen 10 AMD looks like a portable gaming and creator laptop that also handles AI and productivity work well. The Ryzen AI 7 350 is described as efficient for battery life while still being decently powerful, and the machine is praised for solid build quality, 100W USB charging while gaming, and strong results in Ollama, QGIS, CAD, and Gimp after a RAM and SSD upgrade. The 240Hz screen upgrade is called inexpensive, though the base RTX 5070 has 8GB of VRAM and the non Pro Legion tops out at that GPU. Extra savings may be available through Lenovo chat or student discounts, making the final price notably lower.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. Chatting with a Lenovo sales rep can reportedly unlock an extra $50 off, and in some cases the rep can build a quote that includes additional student savings of about $60+ before converting it to an order.

  • No. The non-Pro Legion 5 and Legion 7 models top out at the RTX 5070, so a 5070 Ti is not available on this configuration.

  • The Ryzen AI 7 350 is geared toward mobility and battery life while still being decently powerful, and the laptop is described as portable enough to game while charging from 100W USB-C. It also includes an NPU for AI workloads.

  • It depends on the game. Some titles need 12GB, while others run fine with 8GB, so the practical impact depends on what you plan to play and whether those games have been benchmarked on this GPU.

  • Yes. The exact configuration has been used successfully for Ollama, QGIS, CAD, and Gimp after upgrading to 32GB RAM and a 2TB SSD, and it is described as performing very well when plugged in.

Would this be a better value then the 1600$ on Lenovo on Amazon now, if you're but worried about the price difference?

I have both, returning the Acer. Two very different laptops. The Lenovo is portable and you can actually game while charging on 100W USB. You cannot on the Acer. The Lenovo is slightly nicer in build quality but the Acer has a better screen with higher refresh rate and G-sync, which the Lenovo does not.
I am picking between these two as well. My only concern is 8 gb vram on the 5070 Lenovo. Have you had any issues with that while gaming?

is the acer not portable because it weighs more or because you pretty much have the use its charger?
Both. You 100% have to use its charger. No USB-C unless you aren't gaming. The Intel CPU is an ENORMOUS pig. It's baffling to me that OEMs even tolerate such gross inefficiencies. Even enabling the secret BIOS menu to allow CPU tweaking (I admittedly couldn't figure out how to enable undervolting or BIOS-Level core parking but XTU kinda works) didn't enable me to game on USB-C, which for me was a dealbreaker.

Your VRAM experience is 100% dependent on what you're running. Some games need 12GB. Others will run perfectly fine with 8GB. I'm sure whatever you're interested in running has been benchmarked by someone already...

I bought this exact laptop configuration back in September and it's the nicest laptop I've ever owned. Added an additional 16GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. It's absolutely amazing when plugged in for Ollama, GIS (QGIS) CAD and Gimp. Would highly recommend. I paid ~$1150 back then, and don't regret a thing.

Seeing mixed battery reviews for the Ryzen 7 350. Those of you who own this, how is the battery life while unplugged, on integrated card, doing light browsing?

If this gets at least 6 hours on low settings while unplugged, it would be ideal

Yup it got replaced by a worse lenovoholideal code that's automatically applied. They wouldn't budget on sales support for an additional 50 either

Where is the 5070ti option? Confused
There isn't a 5070ti option for the non-pro Legion's. Both the Legion 5 and the Legion 7 (non-pro) top out at only the 5070.

Did you go with lower storage?
Yes, I went with 512gb since I already had a 2TB SSD drive
