Why pay for extra members? Assuming your family is mostly around town, just drive to them when they break down, need gas, etc. and use the card in your possession.
you dont want to get off your bed in the middle of the night or your workplace so you can show up for someone else.

For wife and kids, absolutely I would. Who wouldn't? I have no friends, so that part is simple.

are you paying for the plus or classic? how much is it in your area? have you used it at least one time a year? do you have more details on that lockout incident limit?

Classic, one person - $64.99.

Knock on wood, haven't used it personally for about 5 years. Last time, it was when I ran out of gas. Also, in the past, some guy that I ended up golfing with a while back had a dead battery, I stuck around and we used my card to get him jumped.

Classic gives you 4-incidents per year. Towing is up to 5 miles, but whatever, more about getting someone to respond and tow you to a parking lot or something safer, if needed.

We have AAA insurance, so need some kind of membership, but I would keep the roadside anway, no interest in auto insurance claims by using our auto insurer's coverage if we were to switch away.

classic. yes. they give you 50% off for classic and 2 extra family members for free. but plus is completely diff. no half price. extra members only get 30% off on each. i dont mind paying more for plus. but only 30% off for additional members isnt really a deal.
I just renewed about 4 days ago for half off for plus when I called

thanks, if your on classic, you can always add your 2 family members for free. its not the same with plus promo where you can only add extra members but only at the 30% discount.

4 incidents including the lockout?

The link takes me to the AAA gift card site alright, but when I try to login, it doesn't recognize that I'm logged in. (Pops the window to login to my local AAA, I login, but it never updates the parent window. Refresh didn't work either.)

With that said, I was able to browse through my local AAA site, dining discounts, find the restaurants I want, and was able to purchase. (And I discovered that a local restaurant I like has a 10% AAA discount all the time.)

Thank you.

How long are the promo cards good for. I know for example the Longhorn Steakhouse digital card doesn't expire, but usually a short limit on the promo card?

yes, we all know that. the code is right there for everyone on their main page.

but classic/basic is pretty useless for most people. 5 mi roadside assistance is nothing. i can even walk for that long. and their lockout/locksmith is only up to $50. most of the time, they would bill you $75 min for a locksmith visit. at least thats in my area.

aaa classic/basic is very basic and limited as well. you can just join aarp then pay less a month for a real allstate roadside assistance with alot more benefits.

I have AAA membership for 20+ years and they have no hard and fast rules with towing and other services. Many reps have told me that as long as they don't believe that you are abusing them, all service calls are free. I experienced it myself. I had 5 battery service calls in less than a year (many cars) and even though their policy is 4 or less battery calls a year (I think). I was charge the fee. Same thing with short tows (7 miles or less).

You don't really need to be there in person if they are driving your car.

I rarely use mine, but they gave me zero issues when I did. One time I needed a car towed for a new transmission and the best deal by far was over 70 miles away. Threw the driver the keys and they towed it past 30+ other shops to the one I wanted, no questions asked. Picked it up a week later all fixed up. Never used lock out or battery stuff. Just towing here and there. Save a little bit with some random AAA discounts, but AAA discounts aren't always the best coupon code.

AAA seems like a great thing until you actually need them.
