My kids are grown and out of the house, but I can't imagine trapping them in this blackout tent at nap time. Am I wrong for thinking this is weird?

Yeah seems odd. I would invest in blackout curtains or window treatments for significantly less money.

I have one of these and it came in handy for my older one and now for my 3 month old during travels. We don't use it in the house.
