Depending on age of the kid, they might enjoy real binoculars instead, kids can tend to figure things out pretty easily. I got my kids a cheap pair that didnt have a huge zoom range that they liked playing with. It can grown with them a little more that way as well. They like to look at animals in our backyard with them.
