Don't shy away just because it's reconditioned. I purchased a reconditioned Vitamix in 2016 that came w a scratch and they replaced it no questions asked. It's a great way to get a workhorse blender at a reasonable price.

This was $10 cheaper a month ago.

Debating on it after tax at $199 and then try to get the extended 3 year warranty from Vitamix Customer Support.

edit: S.O. stopped me from buying it. Guess I'll wait a bit longer.

Bought it last time around. It's great however that container kind of sucks if you want to make a smaller portion. Bought a second 48oz container to handle those.

I'd get this over a new one if I could go back in time. If you blend ice or other hard stuff, you can end up with scratches inside. I'm one smoothie away from being half microplastic.

Is the Vitamix actually a better blender or is it just hype and paying for the brand name?

Yeah, the larger 64oz requires a larger amounts to mix well. If you try to mix a small amount of content, less than 16oz, it'll just splash around. I've been temped to buy a smaller container but I already have a second 64oz container due to that lawsuit a while ago where they gave either store credit or replaced the blade assembly on the previous generation of blenders.

It has a metal drive and steel blades - so its a better blender. The RPM's in a Vitamix can get high enough to heat up liquids (you can make soup). I bought a 5200 like 10 years ago and have not bought another blender since.

Fully agreed! I received my reconditioned Vitamix in May 2014, and it's still going strong after nearly daily use. The speed dial on mine has seemed a bit finicky recently, jumping around a bit at lower speeds, but it's still completely functional.

please note: on the venturist and ascent model Vitamix blenders use carafes that have self-detect NFC, so you can not use an aftermarket carafe and MUST use vitamix branded carafes, that cost almost as much as this blender deal! $169

Guess it's not uncommon, our 2009 VitaPrep 3 needs the speed dial fixed as well (same symptoms). Here's a how-to link found previously when researched the issue (not affiliated): https://trevorfox.com/2023/11/fix...d-control/

Separate note, for cleaning old pitchers, search for the baking soda cleaning of Vitamix pitchers. Vinegar works as well (but do not use it with the baking soda, you want to clean, not make a volcano!)

Yes. It is the top of the line when it comes to blender. For household use, it should last a lifetime. I purchased may refurnished for family. I am using mine every four days to make smoothies with frozen fruit and vegetables.

Wow. The stainless steel container costs more than this whole unit!
