I'm very disappointed to find out that this advanced charger from Anker still requires handshake renegotiation when a second PD device is plugged into it while the first one is already charging.
This results in all devices that is being charged to briefly stop and since I'm using a portable router with this charger, I briefly lose my Internet.
yeah, for $100+ i'd expect better. This is a bit of a novelty item with a kind of pointless 2.26" screen on a device where we don't really need a screen
Anker's 250W six port charging station stands out for high total output, a per port wattage display, and flexible power modes that can prioritize laptop ports. The screen can help confirm cable limits, and the lower sale price makes it feel more reasonable than the usual premium. The main drawbacks are frequent reports of PD renegotiation when new devices are plugged in, brief disconnects on laptops or routers, and occasional coil whine or heavy heat under sustained load. It is a capable desktop hub if the display and port switching behavior fit your setup.
people who want a multi-port USB-C charging station and like being able to verify which cable is actually negotiating the expected wattage, because the per-port wattage screen helped one user weed out a USB-C cable that was only 60W even though it looked like a higher-wattage cable.
buyers who are okay with a slightly confusing power-mode setup and will test their own device mix, because one commenter said that in "Dual Laptop" mode their C1/C2 charging didn't seem to interrupt or renegotiate when they plugged/unplugged other ports (C3/C4/A1/A2), though they also noted the documentation is lacking.
shoppers who can catch it at a lower sale price and just want a straightforward 6-port charger that works for them, because one commenter said they got it for less after coupons and were very happy with the purchase.
anyone who will plug multiple PD devices in at once and needs stable laptop charging, because multiple commenters described issues where adding another device triggers renegotiation/temporary disconnects (including a laptop undocking/resetting when another device is plugged in).
buyers who are sensitive to heat or coil whine under load, because one commenter said theirs gets very hot and another reported serious coil whine/squealing when plugging a laptop, phone, and tablet in at the same time.
people using a portable router (or other always-on device) that can't tolerate brief power interruptions, because one user reported that when a second PD device is plugged in, the charger forces handshake renegotiation and all charging devices briefly stop, causing their portable router to lose internet.
people expecting a premium $100+ experience with no "novelty" features, because one commenter called the 2.26" screen pointless/novelty and said for $100+ they expected better.
Yes. Plugging in a second PD device can briefly stop charging on the other ports while the charger renegotiates, which can reset a laptop or interrupt a portable router. In Dual Laptop mode, C1 and C2 can stay uninterrupted when devices are added to C3, C4, A1, or A2 for some setups.
It can get extremely hot when sustaining around 200W for long periods, and some units also produce noticeable coil whine or squealing under multi-device load. Another unit was reported to stay cool even when fully loaded, so behavior may vary by unit and workload.
At about $100, it is considered more palatable than the usual $180 price, and Costco has it listed at $98.99. A cheaper TikTok Shop option was also mentioned, while some shoppers prefer alternatives that avoid the power-drop issue.
The display shows per-port wattage and can help identify cables that are not delivering their advertised power, such as a cable that was only 60W. It is also viewed as a novelty by some shoppers who would rather have the money spent on another feature.
It can trigger a temporary disconnect and re-handshake when used through a power-passthrough X-in-1 dongle, which can make the laptop undock and reset work in progress. Directly connecting the charger to the laptop, or using the dongle in a different port, reportedly avoids the issue in some setups.

I'm having this annoying issue with this thing and I'm not sure if anyone else is having the same issue. When I have it plugged into my laptop and doing work or transfering files, when I go and plug in another device to charge. My laptop would undock the charge which cause whatever i'm doing to reset. Each time I plug something new in, the laptop seems to recognized the usb. I tried the turn off the AI function and that didn't do anything.

oh my, I just posted about this issue, you explain it a lot better. So this is a common issue? Do you think a firmware update will fix it? If not I should return it
I think at the $100 price point this is more palatable compared to the usual $180. I have two of these from previous sales. Everyone is right that this thing forces PD renegotiation on all ports when plugging something in, so if that's a dealbreaker for you, don't get this. Also, mine also gets extremely hot but only when sustaining 200W for long periods of time.
But I'll actually say the screen can be rather helpful. It's helped me weed out one of my USB-C cables being 60W despite looking like a thick 100+W one. Sure if you have a cable tester or other gizmo it may not matter, but for everyone else, having the screen show per-port wattage can come in handy.
Again for $100 I think this is appealing, for $180 is where I agree with others I absolutely expect this thing to have independent PD ports and not exhibit overheating or coil whine under load.

Thanks for posting this. I have this problem with an off brand lower wattage device. Are you aware of any 100+ watt (total, not necessarily one port) charger that does not have this issue?

Is there one like this that does not do said renegotiation?
