I just returned my Q10 S5 to Amazon (same as the S5+, but without the emptying dock). After its setup, firmware update and initial room mapping via Lidar, it would never return to its charging dock. Ever. It got within a foot and would act like the dock denied it like a wicked redheaded stepchild. I tried all the reset tips and tricks. Nothing worked. Checked Reddit and Amazon AI to find this has been an ongoing issue. Some say it started and mysteriously resolved. Others say it never returned to the dock again. Might be the firmware update. All agree that Roborock customer service is terrible. I did not try the vacuuming functionality because of the docking issue, but heads up. The Q10 S5 has a small debris bin on board. The emptying dock is probably a must for this model. Hopefully it can find the dock. The docks are different between the Q10 S5 and the S5+.
Prior to the Q10 S5 I tried a Roomba 104. Better room mapping. Returned to the dock every time. However, new Roombas use a snap on side brush and mine kept popping off every use. I'd have to hunt it in the house. Roomba support refused assistance because was an Amazon Warehouse buy and that voided the warranty. So I returned it with gusto.
Now trying a Dreame D20 Pro Plus (same Chinese parent Co. as Roborock). Bigger debris bin, more suck power, self emptying and a corner extending side brush. My hopes are high. Almost went to a Mova P10, but I really don't need a mopping bot.
