I didn't actually purchase it (but thinking about grabbing it as an extra set) because I thought it was the 14 piece that had the 1/2", but this set only goes to 3/8". Going to wait for the 1/2" set to go on sale again for 10 and pick up 1 or 2 sets.

What is so special about a "black and gold" coating?
Is this like titanium from Milwaukee or cobalt from Bosch?
But cobalt bits, from any brand, are in an entirely different class. They are made with an alloy that is much harder than these HSS bits. They hold their edge much better and are a significant improvement for drilling metals. The downside of the hardness is that they're more brittle and more likely to break if any side stress is applied.
These are combination bits they will drill wood metal, plastic.
For steel or aluminum use cutting oil, not wd40. Wd40 is better than nothing, but it is a terrible lubricant. High sulfer oil protects the edge of the bit..3-in-1 oil, motor oil, or best is cutting oil/tap oil. It has higher smoke point and better cooling and lubrication.
As to stainless steel..yes these will drill it but it is very hard on bits...this is where cobolt bits are best..not normal steel. Cobolt doesn't drill as well in mild steel. And again the best oil possible for lube will make a huge difference.
The larger the bit the slower you should drill...but no matter what use 1st gear on your drill only.
"Jobber" refers to the length of the bit..this is the most common length. Aircraft are much longer, machine are much shorter.
