Snagged the battery version of this for $369 last week due to a price error. I think this corded version is as low as I have seen. Plus the cash back is nice.

This is a good price for this model, but arguably this model isn't a great value compared to the DWS779, the only significant difference was the cutline light, I'm not sure if they kept the features they removed from the 779 in this model (the secondary hard stops for the bevel I want to say is what they removed, something like that) and the 779 used to get as low as 250, but lately it seems to be more in the 3-350 range occasionally with free stand at the 350 or higher price point. Also this is probably more saw than most DIYers need. Edit they also removed the slider "latch" which is a redundant/secondary stop for the slider mechanism (it still has a friction set screw to stop it from sliding) I think those items are both still present on the 780, but they're relatively minor and I believe can be added back with service parts cheaply if you care (the hard stops would be the one I'd want, the slider is probably fine unless you transport the saw a lot).

I believe you are referring to the battery version of this saw (DCS785). This deal is for the corded version.

You can get the 779 and buy the shadow line upgrade kit for like $80 or so.

Where can you find the light kit for $80?

Up until recently at least, the only difference was the handles and the power supply/wire/light, MM power tool sells a kit, I assume Dewalt will at some point make that upgrade harder/more expensive, but I'm not sure that they have so far. Also, the kit is 120 not 80 as another poster stated. You can DIY it for basically free if you find a small enough 110v to 12v power supply and find an LED that will fit (blade shaped T10 car LEDs shaved very slightly on the edges can be wedged into the factory plastic piece where the light goes for example).

I have both the 780 & 779 that I've upgraded & would have no problem spending $150 more today for the 780 w included shadow line

Start here which tells you the parts you need then do a search for them. You can find them cheaper if you look and don't just buy this kit.

The 780 also has a few upgrades that the 779 doesn't have & can easily be overlooked.
The 780 has a hook latch on the rail slide that will lock in the blade so it's optimally centered when cutting tall stock, the rear handle lock is metal instead of plastic, it also has bevel detent stops for crown at 22.5 & 33.8
Plus a few additional small details, dust collection is terrible on both units lol & I recommend upgrading them if u plan on using indoors

FWIW older 779s had all of those features, the light was the only difference up until a few years ago.
