So yeah: if you are looking to run a mini server that can take advantage of multi-threading, then choose this one.
If you are looking for a mini machine for dev / desktop / creative, and are MacOS literate, the M4 is going to serve you far better.
If you are looking to do any gaming beyond casual, look elsewhere.
Community Reviews
The NAB9 is a compact Intel mini workstation that stands out for Linux, Proxmox, Plex transcoding, and other multi threaded server tasks. The i9 12900HK, dual 2.5G LAN, and four 4K display outputs make it flexible for home lab use, emulator setups, and light desktop work. It also runs quietly on Linux unless pushed hard, though the fan can have a higher pitched tone and the chassis runs warm under load. The main concern is reliability, with repeated reports of motherboard failures, a recall, and rough refurb support, so it feels best suited to buyers comfortable with some risk.
Common Questions (5)
This model has reported motherboard-related failures, and a recall on the NAB9 is mentioned as a likely reason so many units are being sold refurbished. That makes it a higher-risk buy than a typical mini PC, especially if you want long-term reliability.
Yes. It has been used successfully with Ubuntu Server, Proxmox, Docker, Plex, Audiobookshelf, and other home-server tasks, and the fan is described as very quiet unless under high load. It is a better fit for server-style multitasking than for gaming or Windows-first desktop use.
It is not a gaming-focused machine, and 4K gaming is not realistic; older titles may manage 1080p low settings, while the iGPU is better suited to tasks like Plex transcoding. The 4K@120Hz capability is present, but several comments say it is unnecessary for this class of Intel mini PC.
The barebones unit has one NVMe slot and a 2.5-inch drive bay. The 2.5-inch drive uses a proprietary motherboard-attached cable, so it should be secured when installed to avoid losing it.
It can drive 4 monitors: 2 via HDMI at 4K@60Hz and 2 via USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode at 4K@60Hz. That makes it suitable for a multi-display workstation setup.

I remember there were many other mini PC deals from $150 to $300 including bunch that people claimed to have Spyware in bios or something.
Is this deal and better than those? I want to run immich and while at it maybe run plex.

I run Ubuntu server on it, it runs the arr suite, plex and audiobookshelf. It would absolutely run Immich, but I have another NAS that has 4x16TB drives and thats where I run Immich. This would handle minecraft servers along with the rest just fine. I didn't get this mini pc for windows so I have no experience with it but there are plenty of people here commenting about that. For Immich and plex I would 100% grab this for the price. Ya the $150 N150 machines are nice and good enough, but those are now $200+ and if you have the extra cash you wont regret this thing. You could start your journey with a usb external and then grab a NAS if you really enjoy it all. If youre just starting out, use chatgpt to help you or other youtube guides. Dont stick with windows though and just tough it out and learn some linux.
I was just reading through comments and was going to make one because no one else addressed this. I've ordered a barebones one of these last month. 1tb drive and 64gb of RAM and its running great.

Do you use any applications to replicate any of your drives? I want to do that by making rpi the back up copy of my immich hard drive.
