This one or 24gb ram variant for 300 less? Worth it spending 300 more?

You never have enough RAM, I'd always go with a higher amount.

This is not really a MacBook Pro, because it has M5 chip, not M5 Pro chip. The price should be between $1000-$1200 for this Chip.

Why not get the M4 with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD from the other deal for $1549.

Apple's logic is that any improved performance in the latest gen chips is theirs to pocket. So you are paying the same amount year after year for the exact amount of performance. They refuse to pass on any of the savings from tech advancement. Yet the Apple fanboys defend them like angry bull dogs.

This is also the reason why the fanboys will compare these to Apple laptops in 2016 and refuse to consider how rest of the world advanced and prices now vs 10 years ago.

In short, yes this should be close to 1200.

that's a Macbook Air, not sure what the performance differences are but it's not a pro.

Also an inch smaller if size matter.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted this is the right take. There will not be any difference between this laptop and an m5 air when it eventually comes out for hundreds less. You're carrying a bigger laptop to enjoy the performance advantage from improved thermals. This chip does push the rest of this chassis enough.

I would guess its their nonsense acting like its absurd for Apple to charge the same price for the new generation of the same tier of product or them acting like there's been no performance improvement over time (or the ability to offer equal performance with a simpler chip; all of which ignores a variety of factors). Its not even like Apple is unique in this regard. We've been seeing increasing prices at same tier generation over generation in the PC space. Although that's not even new either. And that was happening outside of the supply/demand issues (cryptomining, AI, etc) that has caused prices in PC space to become as and in some cases more stupid than Apple's prices (which are often absurd). Would they prefer Apple pulled a Microsoft Xbox and increase price by 50% with no performance improvement after 5 years?

Its also disingenuous to act like there's no other difference between the Air and Pro lines. Most of it isn't worth the price increase (don't think most people are missing the SD reader and extra TB port, but a decent amount might miss the HDMI port, thankfully more and more monitors are coming with USB-C though), but the display is substantially better (although that's because Apple has let the display in the Air line languish). Personally though the sizes of the Pro line are not a good fit for me size wise 15" Air is goldilocks "just right" for me, whereas 14" too cramped and 16" too chonky).
