I have this and it does well especially in fog, it's crazy that I can see pretty sharp through fog using my front camera in my mirror than through my windshield. The back camera takes a couple of minutes to adjust its clarity but works great after that.

At this point I just want to point out how important a dash cam is. My wife just had an accident last Thursday and if it wasn't for the dash cam it would have been hard to proof that the other party was at fault. Thankfully we had that dash cam and the wife only had minor injury, unfortunately the car is most likely a total loss.

Say "NO" to all mirror dashcams. Since these attach to the rearview mirror, if you have more than 1 driver and that driver adjusts the rear view mirror for a better viewing angle of the screen...there's a chance he will end up adjusting where front camera is pointed. This happened to my niece's car. She got into an accident and the recorded footage on the front camera was completely useless cuz it was inadvertently pointed too high and had completely no view of the accident.

Anyone know how well the sensor does in low light with this unit? I'm looking at dashcams with the Starvis 2 sensor, but this price seems attractive.

The fact that I can't find any info about the sensor makes me think that it will be terrible. The design of the camera and its lens, sticking out the side of the mirror on a small arm, also makes me think that its sensor is tiny.

The product page's comparison table also says "Upscaled 8MP," so it's not the IMX678 that LLMs claim it uses, nor "4k" (not that resolution means much - a larger sensor will resolve more detail than a smaller one, with similar lens quality).

In for one. I've got an older car without a backup camera. I've had my eye on one of this style for awhile.

The rearview mirror is a display which shows whatever the rear Camara see. Adjusting the rearview mirror display doesn't change anything you see as you are still seeing the feed from the rear camera, so you really shouldn't need to adjust the rearview mirror.

But it's a screen. Why would they need to move it?

Be advised that Wolfbox makes "oem" replacement arms to completely replace. It was $60 for the part on the Wolfbox site.

Sounds like the person that borrowed her car has proper driving 101, as you niece doesn't have that 101. Everyone should know, one of the first things you do before driving off is adjust your mirrors!

Great tech upgrade, but consider the physical limitations before buying.
I've been using this aftermarket mirror for a while, and while it's a fantastic way to modernize an older vehicle—especially by adding front and rear dashcam functionality—there are three major "real-world" trade-offs you should know:
  • The Weight Issue: This unit is heavy. Over time, the added weight can cause your factory mirror's ball joint to shake loose. This results in a "bouncing" reflection that is magnified 2x when the screen is off. Fixing this often requires a full factory mirror replacement, though a dedicated replacement mentioned by another commenter might solve it if compatible.
  • Nighttime Visibility: The e-mirror struggles with headlight glare at night. Following cars' headlights can wash out the image entirely, particularly if the camera is mounted low near the license plate.
  • Camera Alignment Conflict: There is a design flaw in the front camera's adjustability. If you tilt the mirror to get a good viewing angle for "standard mirror mode," the front dashcam often ends up pointed too high or too far toward the passenger side, rendering the footage useless.
  • No tilt function: For nighttime use in "standard mirror mode", there is no manual tilt function to cut headlight glare from vehicles behind. You either have to live with it or manually angle the mirror away so you won't see the reflected image completely. And if you're constantly moving the mirror back and forth, it only speeds up the ball joint wear mentioned above!
Installation Note: To get a clean look, I recommend tapping power from the map lights and running the rear wire through the trim, but this does require a fair amount of technical "know-how."

It's also the rear view camera display. Why would the other driver adjust the mirror. Everything should be set for the best front view angle and forget about it.

So, there is some validity to this comment, but I wouldn't say no to all. Most of these mirror dashcams have a mirror with the screen embedded directly behind the reflective surface. In theory, these dashcams SHOULD ONLY show either the cameras video feed or the mirrors reflective image. When the video feed is active, the screen is attempting to show through the mirror surface, but you can still see some of the reflective image while seeing the video feed. What looks like glare when the video feed is displayed during the day is actually the reflective image from the mirror surface. Many people complain about glare or screen brightness when it's actually the video feed getting washed out from the mirror. I figured this out after I had a passenger wearing a white shirt make the screen completely unusable. When they got out of the car, I could see the screen normally. I say all that to say that, depending on the color of your interior or anything else in the car, there are times where you will absolutely have to adjust these mirrors. More so for a 2nd driver. These mirrors are basically a small screen with 2-way mirror film on screen. And you can buy that cheap on Amazon for less than $10.
