At this point I just want to point out how important a dash cam is. My wife just had an accident last Thursday and if it wasn't for the dash cam it would have been hard to proof that the other party was at fault. Thankfully we had that dash cam and the wife only had minor injury, unfortunately the car is most likely a total loss.

Anyone know how well the sensor does in low light with this unit? I'm looking at dashcams with the Starvis 2 sensor, but this price seems attractive.

The fact that I can't find any info about the sensor makes me think that it will be terrible. The design of the camera and its lens, sticking out the side of the mirror on a small arm, also makes me think that its sensor is tiny.

The product page's comparison table also says "Upscaled 8MP," so it's not the IMX678 that LLMs claim it uses, nor "4k" (not that resolution means much - a larger sensor will resolve more detail than a smaller one, with similar lens quality).

I have this and it does well especially in fog, it's crazy that I can see pretty sharp through fog using my front camera in my mirror than through my windshield. The back camera takes a couple of minutes to adjust its clarity but works great after that.

In for one. I've got an older car without a backup camera. I've had my eye on one of this style for awhile.

Say "NO" to all mirror dashcams. Since these attach to the rearview mirror, if you have more than 1 driver and that driver adjusts the rear view mirror for a better viewing angle of the screen...there's a chance he will end up adjusting where front camera is pointed. This happened to my niece's car. She got into an accident and the recorded footage on the front camera was completely useless cuz it was inadvertently pointed too high and had completely no view of the accident.

The rearview mirror is a display which shows whatever the rear Camara see. Adjusting the rearview mirror display doesn't change anything you see as you are still seeing the feed from the rear camera, so you really shouldn't need to adjust the rearview mirror.

But it's a screen. Why would they need to move it?

Be advised that Wolfbox makes "oem" replacement arms to completely replace. It was $60 for the part on the Wolfbox site.

Sounds like the person that borrowed her car has proper driving 101, as you niece doesn't have that 101. Everyone should know, one of the first things you do before driving off is adjust your mirrors!
