After going through six generations of Apple Watches plagued by poor battery life and needing battery replacements within a year, I finally switched to Amazfit. They're inexpensive, still handle notifications, track health metrics, and I don't stress about scratches. Best of all, the battery easily lasts around two weeks. You do give up some Apple-specific features like Find My and turn-by-turn navigation, but for the price difference, Amazfit is a far better value.
I have one of these and use it for customized strength workouts in my home gym. It can count reps, set rest timers, and vibrates when it's time for the next set. I can also skip music from it, so I don't need to keep my phone in my hand. Makes workouts a lot easier overall.

No, it basically acts like a remote for your phone when it's playing music. You can't store music on it or install apps like Spotify for Spotify Connect
You can if you have an Android, but it's limited to about 200mb. I'm not sure what file format are compatible, but I know I have the option to add music in my settings.
Very tempted. I have a similar one that I got for $30 on Amazon a few years ago. This and my similar one does everything I need it, saving me hundreds of dollars on buying an Apple Watch.

I've had previous versions of the Bip and beat the heck out of them... eventually they would die (specifically after salt-water exposure), but I don't believe they were certified for that and the price was very reasonable, so I considered them a good value. Also, there was an app for Android that would pull a lot of data from the watch and worked better than Amazfit's software. Don't recall the name offhand but it had "notification" in the name IIRC. Perhaps Amazfit's software has improved and it's no longer needed.

It appears Amazfit has a subscription based model to get all the features from the APP and the watch. I'm not sure what that all entails but it's something you might want to consider.
For casual users Amazfit offers a solid feature set on their devices, but they are a clear step below the competition if you're even a semi-serious user. Lots of things are half-baked or only offer enough to show as a feature on a marketing page, but don't work as expected in use.
I've had mine since July, wearing it constantly. I use the heart rate monitor, the different exercise modes, and get messages from my phone. Everything works fine for me.
I bought one 3 weeks ago on ebay for $53.00 "New open box" perfect condition works great, nice option if you don't want to spend a bundle on the higher end watches.
