$2,559 through Apple Educators. Don't know where Micro Center's MSRP is coming from as I see $2,799 through Apple.

Really? I see $2879.00 on apple's EDU site. Are you perhaps looking at the 14 inch model?

Crap, you're right. I was trying to find spec differences and didn't compare screen size.

Last time MC had this offer, I tried PMing with BH Photo and Abt.

Only Abt seemed to be willing to honor the PM, which worked well for me because I had a large gift card from them from a previous appliance I had ordered from them in the past. Ended up getting this for $2300 or so, after tax and GC.
Abt Customer Support is great, by the way. BH is too but they were a bit stingier on their other PMs in the past, too.

If you want a somewhat BTO build with higher RAM or SSD without paying Apple Retail prices, I personally found Microcenter to be a good bet -- that's how I found my 16 inch 64G Ram/512 GB M1 Max about 4-5 month after release there.

Key is to bookmark the exact configuration you want, and just go back and check often & see if it comes up with a price you're willing to tolerate.

This is an amazing laptop. The only thing that I would hesitate to embrace would be the 48 gb of memory if I wanted to experiment with running models locally. Otherwise this thing will spank most other computers, including desktops, for the vast majority of use cases.

A little over a week ago BB had this model on sale for around $2675, it sold out within an hour or 2 while I was contemplating but they also had a single open box near me for $2510 and I'm very happy I snagged it. This thing is a beast.

Edit-the one I got is actually the m4 max for that price. Pretty slick

Nice! Got the 16-inch/48gb/512 for $19xx but keeping an eye out for potential upgrade deals once the holiday returns start being processed.

B&h is one of the worst retailers. They don't accept returns if the box is opened too.
