Yea, why not! That's the spirit. Buy things because.

I bought one of these in June for $22. It's okay, but not great. I'm not a big fan of the guillotine style open/closure, and have had some trouble with the unit thinking that the labels are misaligned when they aren't - Hitting the open button, not letting it open, and clicking it closed again fixes this, but slightly annoying. I'm not using this one for 4x6 labels - I have a contained unit for those - I use this for barcode printing for inventory expiration date tracking. It's decent for the price, if you're on a budget and looking for as cheap as possible.
If you have the budget, I'd go with a self contained unit that holds the roll inside it every time. Things get bumped, and the alignment is never 100% perfect with these ones you just have a separate roll holder to maintain the labels in, and the small vibrations of the unit when printing will eventually pull things out of alignment on all of them.
Edit: Just to add, the incomplete labels and choppy text are most likely misconfiguration on the users part. I coded my own inventory management system and definitely had to play around with things to get it just right, but this printer uses the same pretty generic driver as all the other low cost label printers that you see online, so you definitely have to tweak things to get it right. Printing a 4x6 label off a normal shipping platform should work fine out of the box, though I've only tested 4x6 through this a few times.

Spend more if you want anything good. These aren't great. Maybe you ship less than I do but I bought a used Zebra and it's pretty much perfect for me.
