This is a budget combo espresso machine aimed at milk drinks, with a built in grinder, steam wand, and a 58 millimeter portafilter that gives it a Barista Express style layout. The appeal is the all in one setup for making strong espresso at a lower price, but the grinder is the biggest concern and the finish looks cheap in photos. Longevity and service support are also questioned, with doubts about repair options and long term durability. It reads like a starter machine if you want the convenience, not the polish or lifespan of a premium model.

  • The machine uses a 58mm portafilter, which can fit a common espresso workflow.

  • The built-in grinder and included extras may produce strong espresso for milk drinks like cappuccinos and lattes.

  • The "Upgrade 2025" version is reportedly supposed to use a stainless steel build.

  • The brushed-metal look may be cheap, but the lack of a cheesy front label could keep the exterior more understated.

  • The brushed metal finish around the machine can look cheap in the photos.

  • The built-in grinder quality can be poor, which can ruin espresso even if the machine holds pressure.

  • The "20 bar" rating can be misleading because actual extraction pressure may be about half that figure.

  • Service and repair support can be hard to find for the "Upgrade 2025" brand, which can leave the machine with limited long-term value.

Sellers do pay more selling on Amazon than selling through Temu, that's a fact. That is why the Temu price is typically cheaper since Temu sellers sell directly from China and on slimmer margins.

Does Slickdeals (owned by a partnership between Hearst Corporation and the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs (West Street Capital) work with Amazon and major manufacturers, sure, but probably not in this case. Maybe, but the OP would have to confirm that. Not everything on SlickDeals is an advertisement, a lot of deals are "found" by people like you and me.
Say what you want... but every front page deal IMHO is an advertisement. And all twenty deals I posted have gotten taken down with the same bullshit that the vendor was not vetted.

I love SD.net... it has saved me thousands. But I am not fooled to what it is.

I find Gaggia to expensive, so I went with the Breville Bambino. And Gaggia had real issues with paint chips coming off the boiler but the E24 is the copper boiler and should be OK to buy second hand... can not trust any other model second hand. I also would not buy a refurbished Gaggia... due to the amount of returns they got once the paint chip issue was detected.

Also, I don't see the difference between a $50 coffee burr or your $350 coffee burr... they both use the exact same process to break down the coffee beans. Perhaps, your machine can make the coffee beans even more fine... but the finest setting on my $50 machine is already too fine for my expresso machine... point is I don't need a machine to make it even more fine.
Just FYI, the new Gaggia Classic Pro E24 has a brass boiler, not copper, but it also has other improvements over the 2023 model. There probably aren't many E24s around used since it was launched in late 2024 and even if you find one it probably won't be cheap. I agree that people should avoid any models from 2023, that was the bad year. Machines manufactured 2022 and prior should be fine.

I don't really care if it's an ad or not. Is the deal slick? That's all that matters IMO.

I have also dealt with having many of my deal posts rejected, and generally speaking, I just stopped posting deals. It was just too aggravating to spend the time filling the thing out, providing photos, etc., just to receive the same bogus rejection you mentioned from the mods. They have very weird rules. I understand if it's from some weird website, but if it's being sold on Amazon what the heck?

Now, if I do find something better I post it within threads, other than that I don't post actual deals as an "OP" anymore.

In addition to what you said there is this...

Around 2020, some users reported the group head finish peeling off on Gaggia Classic Pro units made in 2019–2020.
Reddit

In 2024, there were posts about chrome chipping off portafilters on machines about 2 years old.

And I specifically stated the E24 since there has not been any real issues with this model due to the brass (thank you for pointing out my error)( boiler. It is like we can't trust anyone anymore. I need to vet everything with every resourse in today's enviroment... it is crazy.

It is not weird rules... it is that Slickdeals.net will not post deals unless you pay for advertisements. Thank you for your post... you are the first person who has talked about the same experience I have had on SD.net... and I also stopped posting deals for the exact same reason.

High extraction pressure such as 20 bar is terrible.
It's 20 bar but as with most of these machines, the actual extraction point pressure is half of that at most.

But it says in one of the pics that it provides DENSEL

Google, Bing, Dictionary and Merriam Webster must be bad because I can't find what it means.

Merriam:
"densel"
The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary.

In other words...Slop on FP

If you service this machine regularly like you service your boyfriend, it will last you long enough to save up enough money for a real machine

Espresso is funny like that. It took me a long time to convince myself to spend over $100 for a coffee appliance, but eventually I gave in. I bought a used Gaggia Classic on Ebay for a couple hundred. That was over 10 years ago and I've used it every day since, and it looks and works the same as when I bought it.

Unfortunately, for quality espresso gear you do need to spend. There are cheap options for espresso machines, and those cheap options are getting better every day, but you do get what you for...to a point. There is a point of diminishing returns in my opinion, but for anyone serious about getting started in quality espresso a "cheap" semi-auto like a Gaggia Classic Pro E24 https://www.wholelattelove.com/pr...lassic-e24 is a good place to start. It will cost you $500 new, but there are machines costing over $5000 and everything in between. Is a 5K machine worth the extra $4500? Not to me, but I'm sure it's amazing and if money didn't matter I'd buy one. There are sub $200 espresso machines that are Breville and DeLonghi knock-offs that work fine as well. Do some research online and you'll be able to figure out what's important and what's not.

The machine is one thing, but grinders are another. As a lot of espresso fans will tell you "The grinder is more important than the machine". That's true to an extent but it's not as difficult as it used to be to find a good grinder. You don't need to spend $500 or more for a good grinder. Amazon has 64mm flat burr grinders that have stepless adjusters for under $200, and conical burr espresso grinders that work just fine for under $100. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=flat+b...-left_1_19
thanks! that's very helpful!
