This Legion 5 stands out as a strong RTX 5070 gaming laptop for the money, with the OLED screen, smooth keyboard, and aluminum lid drawing the most praise. The 32GB memory and 1TB SSD configuration lands in a price range that undercuts pricier RTX 5070 Ti options, and Lenovo promo codes have pushed it lower for some orders. The main tradeoff is giving up a number pad, and the better value depends on whether the extra cost for a 5070 Ti matters. A polished pick if you want premium build and display quality without moving up a tier.
Gamers wanting a high-end 15-inch machine, because the RTX 5070 configuration is praised for strong value, smooth keyboard feel, and a better OLED display than competing plastic models.
Buyers who care more about display quality and chassis feel than a numeric keypad, because the aluminum lid, OLED screen, and overall build are described as noticeably nicer.
Shoppers comparing RTX 5070 laptops under a tighter budget, because this model is described as the one to beat unless they move up to a 5070 Ti.
People who want a compact gaming laptop for desk use, because the missing 10-key layout is the main tradeoff called out against this configuration.
Travelers who need to use the laptop on the go, because the screen and keyboard can become unusable and force external monitor and peripherals.
Buyers who rely on a built-in number pad for daily input, because this configuration gives up the 10-key layout.
People who want a machine with proven long-term reliability, because one Legion 5 developed an unusable screen and keyboard after years of use.
Shoppers expecting a quieter gaming laptop, because a competing RTX 5070 model was described as sounding like a jet engine during setup.

Then I picked up the $1200 Asus Tuf rtx 5070 8gb witth 32gb ram $1089 open box from best buy and the mouse pad did not work in one corner and sounded like a jet engine just upgrading windows. I was also not a fan of the 4 lighted buttons that were hard to see and the keyboard layout.
Then I saw the lenovo sale and based on all the reviews I read on slickdeals laptops about the legion quality I went with this deal and will arrive Friday. I called since was origionally $1299 but they gave me it for this price so I was ahead of the game haha.
Then I was at best buy to return the Asus today and checked out the other laptops, most plastic without OLED screens and then the legion 7. Although not this exact model it would be similar. The aluminum lid easy open lid felt nice, keyboard layout and feel was smooth, the screen was amazing and light. The build quality seem just nicer than the rest of them they had on display.
Most of the other reviews are pushing for the 5070 ti but in my budget I think this is the best quality and specs out there for this price. If you need the beef and can afford $300+ more for the rtx 5070 ti with 12gb ram might be a better fit. Also 30 day free return window and price match policy if lenovo site prices change in that time with same specs.
Happy Holidays!
No this is basically the best laptop on the market in it's price range. If you don't mind giving up 10 key number pad I could make an argument for spending the extra 250 for the ASUS Strix at Best Buy right now with the 5070 TI, but anything 5070 and under this is basically the laptop to beat.
(A word of caution if you are considering leveraging any third-party shopping for CB then ask the agent to create a quote for you as most cb sites will deny CB for Edu accounts.)
Anyone interested pm me (I have one SD'er reach out to me as I post this message so you will next in queue if he does not go forward)
