I had a cheap lazer set that came from Costco. It was a gift. I tried using it to hang suspended ceiling lights. One drop and it was destroyed.
The light or the laser?

If light, why would this be a laser problem. Sounds like an installer problem lol

If laser, depending on the drop even pro ones would break.

You can't rely on the reviews anymore, heck you are not even guaranteed not to get a knockoff.

A cheap laser level is fine for occasional use or hanging pictures, but a cheap tripod will infuriate you every single time.

Hmm, promo page says that the 50% off is valid until 02/28/2026, so maybe I'll just bookmark this post and see if it comes back into stock. It's odd since the product page shows that it is actually in stock.

But will it help hang a picture frame? Low bar for success.
I would say yes though for "a" picture you could get a torpedo level like this: https://a.co/d/6gnZH5z

I have a similar torpedo (made by Craftsman) for over 10 years. It's accurate and still being used.

There seems to be a subpopulation of extremely sad, damaged people who haunt SD and reflexively downvote people's posts for no reason - even replies that are genuinely helpful, informative or that raise legitimate points. It must somehow make them feel their existence is validated when they share the abject negativity that they live in.

It's not that serious...In this case I would think someone simply saying they bought something doesn't help anyone. Tell us your experience, not "will see when I get it"

Have one of these (not this brand but similar)

Thought I would use this all the time.
Getting it to the height you need is half the battle.

My main use was leveling can less LEDs on an A frame, but with the bounciness from the tripod and generally being annoying, a normal level was easier.

I have used it quickly to verify level of pictures in a family room but again, the height is annoying.

Seems cooler than it is IMO.

I'm always concerned about the accuracy of these off brands. But for a tool you would use only once a while, maybe it's good enough? Anyone have any input on these?
I don't have this particular one. I have another similar priced offbrand that I got about a year back. I have a 6 foot aluminum level that I have checked it with, and it's dead nuts accurate every time. It's really a simple concept of these things operate. But, I imagine it's probably hit or miss with some of these.
