Are these better then the regular AirPods if used with an Android device?

No, these do not have transparency mode.

I had these for a week and returned them. No indication if it powers on, no indication if it connected to a device, no low battery warning, etc.

The volume was low as well.

Disappointing.

I had the same issue when I purchased 2 sets from Amazon. Purchased a set from Best Buy and they were perfect.

I've been using these since COVID. I find the battery to last longer. I also prefer that they have a cord so I can just let them hang around my neck when not in use (less misplacement). The earbuds also are magnetic which I find useful. They always stay in place.

Both of my past pairs of these had the glue on the eartips come loose, making them basically useless. They're fine for $30-40, but I'd rather get the Sony WI-C100.

I cant speak for these but what difference does apple chip make? I have taotronic ones with magnet on end of buds, amazing sound for $20, and I actually like wired ones, so convenient travel.

The Beats Flex came out over 5 years ago, so back then they were probably powerful at the time with that H1 chip. But I'm sure cheaper brands have caught up with by now.

Try Shokz OpenMove bone conduction "earphones" if you don't care about isolation and noise cancellation. I switched from AirPods Pro 2 to Shokz for most indoor/outdoor activities.
