Good deal, but notice quart size. I got a similarly good deal at Kohls years ago... maybe a decade ago at this point... and I wish it was a 5 or 6 quart

The tilt head only good for light duty. If you are mixing dough, go with lift bowl for more torque/power.

These are not your mom's KitchenAids. They are made with cheaper parts they will break.

From what I understand they may be relatively cheap but are still very easily repairable, and still miles better than a lot of cheaper brands.

A family member has one of these newer ones and over Christmas we mixed lots of heavy dough and things and it seemed to work just fine.

More than a decade for me at Kohls too when you used to flood the doors at opening on BF. Still have it, use it all the time and still going strong and still wanting a 5 or 6 qt version but oh well..

The plastic gear that protect the motor will break. I repaired and sold my 4.5qt Classic and Ultra couple years ago. The lift bowl do come with metal and plastic version. To be honest, I found the food process is more universal and much faster when come to mixing, slicing, shred, fine mince, etc.. My recommend is Cuisinart 14 cup. You can get dozen blade for various task. It had been around for many decade and you can get disc blade made in Japan.

The KitchenAid mixers these days are trash. My wife's died shortly after warranty. I'd look elsewhere

I'm surprised they still make this defectively designed model. The bowl is held by a shallow screw feature on the bottom, and can easily come off. Save the money and buy the model with arms to hold the bowl.

My 30 year old one with this style base disagrees.

Aww man! Bought it at $280 two days ago and pm'd them and they said they won't pricematch it because "it has an end sale date" lol. So now I have to return the one I bought, since it was on a lowes gift card and I still want to use that, and repurchase with the lower price!

every single one of these machines clear back into the 70s used a sacrificial gear in the drive system. I fix these as a hobby, I have the parts here to fix about anything you can break on one. For a machine that has been in production for DECADES and has a HUGE following, this price is insane. Most days 4.5 qt is going to handle most peoples needs. I cannot be sure but I suspect this machine will accept the 5 qt bowl as well, but I cannot promise that for sure. If you want to chop things sure a food processor will work "better", but it will not mix cookie dough, mashed potatoes or bread to save your life either. This machine has a gear drive attachment off the front that allows you to hook up tons of attachments, and all the way back to 1919 the same size attachment so they all fit all of them. Let's see Cuisinart say that.
