Happened to be in-store this morning (Vaux Hall, NJ). Quite a bit left on the shelf but the scanned price reflected 75% off as Rokket posted, despite large banner saying 50% off.

Stores close early today for Christmas Eve (5pm, per HD website)

Happy Holidays to all

It's funny. The site was down kind of this morning at three to 3:30 AM pacific time as I was on the site and stuff was being switched over labeled to 75%. You added it to the cart and then it said you're items in your cart were no longer available. I had to wait about 20 minutes. Everything came back and then everything in my cart I was able to order.. one thing to know is if you bought something during the 50% off window and you can get it again for 75% that that's what I'm doing. Home Depot told me to buy the new one at 75% and return the one at 50%

I called Home Depot customer service and they set up a delivery to store for a few few of my items I got for 50% so I'm gonna go to the store pick up the items and the same person then will use my old order and return all my old items

So Home Depot does not price match on seasonal stuff you have to re-purchase and return until because it was like 4 o'clock in the morning and everything was still in stock they were able to do that for me doing this will save me about $200

So if the item is not available at my store, but price is 75% off now, but I purchased it a few days ago at 50% can I take my receipt and the box of item so they can just do return and rebuy of the item I already have? Does HD do that even with seasonal items like these?

I recommend buying LED lights instead of buying incandescent, both for seasonal and general usage. What you save in upfront costs, you pay in electricity usage and additional fire hazard risk. With all the cheap LED options available, I wouldn't use incandescent lights even if someone paid me.

The bigger issue in my opinion is how poorly made most incandescent light strings are these days. I was still buying them because of the significant price difference from LED but finally stopped a few years ago when I realized how many new incandescent strings weren't even surviving into Year 2. I've got LED strings that are a decade old at this point, but I feel like the majority of incandescent strings sold at big box retailers these days will be half unlit or entirely dead after a single season of use, but you won't realize it until the next season when they're out of the return or warranty window.

While I agree with the cost/safety issue...LED lights still look like crap, even the ones they advertise as "warm" look cold and unwelcoming compared to incandescent. I bought a pack of 30x 100-light boxes from Lowes for $60 a few years ago on an "after holiday" sale, so I should be good for a decade. Getting the 100-light strands is smarter because if it goes out no big deal compared to the 300+ light ones.

Steady Lit means the lights stay on even if some bulbs are missing or dead. In nonsteady and older strings, if one bulb goes out they all go out. With Steady Lit, no need to worry about finding the 1 bulb that needs replacing.

Nice, I always like to have a few on hand for when the current ones go bad. Even if it's not until next year or the year after

I agree with that these will last maybe a year or two. I know myself and sure I am to blame, but by the time I untangled them from my trees/bushes and stuff them in a box, the next year half/whole strand no longer works because a bulb got faulty during the process. No issues with the strands of steady-lit lights for me.

My thoughts exactly. While I like LED s for most applications, they just can't match the warm color of incandescent string lights (yet). So I always stock up on those when they go on sale after the holidays.
