These will come with generations of gnats in the soil. Have a pest solution ready, and keep it separated from other plants/foods/soil until it's safe. I personally use a systemic pesticide for indoor plants.

I have a fig plant and moved it about a year ago to south facing window, it's doing much than before.... they need a lot of light.

Also, figs are very prone to stress so be advised that it will wilt when you take it home. Try to place it in its final spot so it can aclimate.

Do you use soil systemic granules or liquid?

Those looking to grow a fig indoor with edible fruit, a Chicago Fig will fruit indoor (also very hardy outdoors). I got mine from Home Depot in the spring. Use an inch or so of sand on the top layer to protect against flies/gnats, easier than sprays. I've had one growing in my office for about 6 years. Produces about 30 figs a year with a southern facing window. Water once a week (drench it). It seems to love water and thrives on that schedule.
