This isnt a bad deal by today's standards (inflation, outrageous RAM Prices, etc...) but it is no where near the same deal i got last year with a similar MOBO and a 5600X combo for $195 from Microcenter PM Newegg (for reference i built a PS5 Pro Killer PC thanks to that combo). I suppose if you wanna throw in a 5X00X3D (or a $50 CPU) then this is actually a great deal then.

Any 5x003d cpu is hoving 300-400 plus and mostly out of stock everywhere. Just go with a 5600x for about 100-130 from ebay or newegg.

Industry estimates say prices will most likely be going up another 20 to 100 percent this summer.

At least we have affordable GPUs for the moment so... yay?

Until GPU manufacturers need to order more RAM

Going AM4 in 2025, even with the current RAM prices, only makes sense if you are building an extreme budget PC or already have some AM4 parts you are re-using.

That being said, I had some DD4 lying around and I needed an inexpensive test PC so I just did this myself.

This is 100% the thing to do. It makes no sense to buy an AM4 x3D processor. You would be better off getting a budget AM5 processor and using the money you save to buy overpriced DDR5.

I agree that the 5600x is the best AM4 option right now at ~$110-120 for a tray CPU. Last week, you could get a Ryzen 5500 for $60 but those seem to be all sold out now.

Damn... And here I am rocking a 5900x with 32 gigs of the same ram with a 7900xtx. Everything runs great at 4K.

But I was near a microcenter last weekend and succumbed to fomo and bought their 9800x3d combo deal.

Extreme budget? No, I run a 5600x/570x rog strix/ 32gb 3600/ 3080ti and can run everything near max and playable 100+fps minus raytracing which I could care less about on a 1440p gsync monitor I built 5 years ago. Currently the market is borked. Current games are not pushing gpu limits anyway without frame gen and not native.

5700X3D is going for $500 new now, around $400 used.
