I wore one of these like a sling bag across China for two months. Really comfortable build, main pocket is a good size, and the two bottle pockets were super useful (usually one water bottle and one umbrella). Obviously no room for a laptop or large tablet though (maybe a small one).

There is a base to hold it from falling through and there's a "strap" on the top that can be tightened to keep it from falling out the top side. Works very well, I never had a problem with either my water bottle or collapsible umbrella falling out.
