Why the TD? Even if you "only" get 1% back on your credit card aren't you technically ahead? If you get the 2% Executive cash back plus something from a credit card with a better earn rate aren't you pretty decently ahead? I read sites that say you don't get the 2% cash back on bullion purchases but the T&Cs don't seem to specifically state that unless I'm missing it.

Calculation of 2% Reward
Reward is approximately 2% of pre-tax purchases (less refunds) of most merchandise purchased through: front-end registers, most ancillary business registers at Costco warehouses and Costco websites in the U.S. and Canada by U.S. and Canadian residents and qualifying purchases made directly from Costco Travel once travel is completed. In the U.S., Rewards are not calculated: (i) on purchases of cigarettes or tobacco-related products, gasoline, Costco Shop Cards, postage stamps, alcoholic beverages in certain states (including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Vermont), prescription purchases in certain states (including Arkansas, New Jersey, and New York), on cellphones, cellphone accessories and cellphone service plans, and at food courts; (ii) on membership fees; (iii) on purchases not recorded through Costco's front-end registers and transactions done on or through websites not hosted by Costco even if accessed through Costco.com, including all business, consumer, and insurance services, the Online Photo Center, and the My Publisher website; (iv) on miscellaneous fees, deposits and taxes, including sales tax and shipping; (v) where prohibited by law or regulation; (vi) on purchases made by anyone other than the account's Primary or Primary Household Cardholder; (vii) as to travel purchases: surcharges, gratuities, trip protection, travel purchased through a third party, upgrades, rental car equipment, resort charges and port charges; and (viii) on certain other categories as determined at Costco's discretion, which may change without notice.

Afaik you do get the 2% on bullion. There is a cap on executive CB ($1250 total which is $62500 in purchases).

I bought one of these awhile back and still have it but it seems many people buy this for the purpose of scraping 4-5% and flipping immediately. It just seems to me it's very risky given the volatility of gold.

Any geniuses who were buying gold at $2000 and selling it for 2% profit care to chime in? 😆

Ya, I see that mentioned on-line as well but the Costco T&Cs don't seem to exclude it. I wouldn't be surprised, heck, I think it would be totally reasonable to not give you the 2% on it! I just don't see it excluded is what I'm saying. If you're ok with the volatility it seems like a decent way to make a minimum spend or try and get some $ back. I wouldn't do it a ton but once here or there it seems like a decent option, again unless I'm missing something.

No, but if you buy this today, it'll go up to $100,000 tomorrow just like bit coin.

The product page specifically says you are earning the 2% reward on this product. No worries there.

If I can only get one of these, do I get the Suisse one, American eagle, Chinese lucky one, or Canadian maple leaf?

I guess is there one "preferred" or that will get a premium when I try to sell it back?

Depends on the use case..
My own view
Hobbies/Collectors item: American Buffalo
Jewelry: American Eagle already 22 carat gold (Remember its more than 1 Troy Ounce. Read the link that I posted on American Eagle)
The rest doesn't have much premium while buying or selling and can be used for Jewelry as well.

Thanks. What about purely from investing perspective? Does that change anything? Will a dealer give me a little more for a specific one?
