I ended up biting. Always wanted to try atsc 3 and surface audio on this one is probably still decent. So many models still in sales channels, this one seems to be slightly better than the current XR8b, but slightly below the XR8 which is comparable to the A80L from this gen.

From what I seemed to find:

XR8B - $1400 (lacks triluminous pro and contrast pro??, standard acoustic surface audio)
XRA75L - $900 (has triluminous pro and contrast pro, standard acoustic surface audio)
XR8 - $1500 (has triluminous pro and contrast booster, acoustic surface audio+)
XR8 ii - $2300 (quantum dot triluminous max and acoustic surface audio+)

Was tempted by the LG C5 at Costco. Had it for $1280 last night including 5 year warranty, and the partner site has a good soundbar deal with it for $1100. Seems like we might be instore for a season of savings.

Bestbuy has a history of selling older models like this around this time of year for good savings. Hopefully not factory seconds or anything since this model was meant to be a "limited" cheaper model when it came out.

There's an open box available at microcenter right now (Santa Clara location). $630 for 55 in Bravia 8. I bought their refurb from $699 for black Friday and loving it. Got the 3 year screen/accident protection for an additional $140. Can't beat $840 for Sony OLED with 3 year full warranty!
Looked and someone got the 65. Probably saw this post and got the 65. It was a killer deal. 798 I think for open box on the newer model.

For this deal, bestbuy warranty would be cheaper and 5 years at $190. Sony would probably be about $400 for 4 years. Difference may be sony offers accident protection and might give you a newer refurb model when it breaks while bestbuy would limit it to refund of your purchase price and no accidents.

Sony sends you the equivalent of what ever is current and it isnt a refurb. Please stop talking out of your ahh if you dont know what you are talking about.

So tempted to pull the trigger. Contemplating between this and the Costco Bravia 8 2024 model I think. Any thoughts?
The Bravia 8 2024 model kills this TV and most all others as well. I've got a couple C series OLEDs that are nice but id trade either one for a Bravia 8 without hesitation.

Kind of tempting but I'm little hesitant with WOLED screens since QD-OLED became a better standard. Reviews also says it's not really bright, especially with SDR content (your cable TV).

A75L is a tad better per Rtings then the Bravia 8 (2024) Don't think twice

LOL. No it's not. QM8K is an amazing TV just different technology with mini LED. If you have a brighter room go with the QM8K. If you have a pretty dark rool then the OLED. RTINGS has these pretty close in there numbers

Not according to Rtings. A75L and Bravia 8 rate about the same. Now if you are talking Bravia 8 II then yes much better but also 1K more.

Bravia 8 only rated 7.9 at Rtings which is one of the lowest rates OLEDs out there. Def not bright

Yes. I'd choose the QM8K if your room has a decent amount of light coming in. A darker room is go with the Sony although both are really good

Lots of people get a new one or even an upgrade, but their terms say they can send you a refurb. And costs at least $100+ more.

edit: was able to find this model on sony's site now, and their plan is $210 for 4yr protect and $220 for protect plus. Not as big of a difference as thought from using A80 plan price when I didn't see a75 populate.

Also, it seems protect starts after the 1 yr warranty is up, making it a total of 5 yrs for $210 while the protect plus (includes accident) starts when you buy it for total of 4 years.
