Super Duolingo is framed as a useful language practice tool for building vocabulary, daily habit, and basic conversation support, especially when paired with real world speaking, videos, or other study methods. It can help with pronunciation, reading, and keeping skills fresh, and some courses like Spanish seem stronger than less common languages. The main limits are thin or repetitive content in smaller languages, weak grammar explanation, and a ceiling well short of fluency. The deal itself is also clouded by pricing and eligibility quirks, including the 60 percent off math, trial restrictions, and a family plan at $120.
people who already know they'll supplement with real-world speaking/listening because commenters report Duolingo helps with phrases/pronunciation and meaning, but they emphasize you still need outside conversation practice to reach real proficiency.
people who want an easy daily practice to reinforce vocabulary because commenters say Duolingo "really helps with vocabulary" and works well as an "easy daily practice" even if it's only one tool in a bigger language-learning routine.
adults learning a language for day-to-day travel and basic communication because commenters say it can help you "get by living day to day" and "learn enough to travel and be understood," even though it won't make you fully fluent by itself.
families who want the Super Family option for a year because one commenter says they signed up, immediately cancelled, and still had access for a full year on the $120 family offer.
parents trying to keep kids engaged with actual language lessons because commenters say the course repetition and lack of variety can cause kids to lose interest and even use the app for other activities (like keeping a streak going with chess) instead of doing language lessons.
adults who want deep grammar explanations and "why/how" sentence structure because commenters say Duolingo helps with phrases and pronunciation, but doesn't really explain why sentences are structured the way they are.
people learning Asian languages (Chinese/Japanese) who want serious learning progress because commenters say Duolingo is "absolutely garbage" for learning Asian languages beyond an initial spark and recommend other apps for serious study.
people who need a program that teaches beyond reinforcement because commenters say Duolingo can help reinforce what you already know, but it's not effective for learning a new language well (especially after feature removals and shifting toward paid add-ons).
people who want to rely on the app alone to become fluent because commenters say there's "0% chance" you'll become fluent with Duolingo alone and that speaking/listening practice is still required.
people who are considering the deal but recently took a 7-day free trial because commenters warn that taking the trial shortly before the promotion can make you ineligible for the offer until the trial ends.

I'm gonna stick with their free plan only so I can screw up their statistics about Super Duolingo subscribers being 4+ times more likely to finish their courses. 🤣
Are there better ways? Sure. Do what keeps you learning. I find this to be fine for micro learning sessions, and it's a deal, so I went for it.
Do whatever you can that will keep you learning.
