Generally speaking the reason they say that is because this is not rated for maximum current for hours on end even if it is rated for the amount of current you would draw. Level One charging even a tiny battery takes most of the night. If you want to buy one and test it out feel free to leave a comment on the Amazon reviews but I strongly recommend 12/3 or larger (smaller numbers) for continual use (as I use at this length to overnight charge a PHEV)

Not for EV is a lie, if you're using a Level 1 charger. This is the maximum amp pull out of a standard residential outlet.

Frost resistant? Had some issues with insulation breaking on Harbor Freight tools in the cold.

Decent price but I agree with holysin that 12/3 or bigger is a better size for use around the house.

Is this overkill for next year's Christmas lights? I know 16 would be good enough but idk if this is cheap nowadays. Haven't bought a cable in years

Residential outlet is wired with a solid copper wire while this one is a stranded wire which has higher resistance, more heat generated and lower current capacity. Cords are for short term use only.
