Oh yeah, also a customer photo shows the box; apparently the 26db on the listing is wrong, it's only 20db.
Community Reviews
These low profile earmuffs are framed as a budget option for yard work, mowing, and other noisy household projects, with the price drawing strong interest. The 26 dB NRR is described as enough for many shooting uses outdoors, especially when paired with earplugs, and the folding design makes them easy to keep around. The main caution is that 26 dB may be too little for indoor ranges or high caliber firearms, and the listing may overstate the attenuation. A practical pick if you want cheap basic hearing protection and can double up when needed.
Common Questions (3)
For most outdoor shooting, 26 dB NRR is considered usable, but it is not enough by itself for many firearm setups, especially indoor ranges or louder calibers. Doubling up with earplugs and earmuffs is the safer approach for 5.56, frequent shooting, or any situation with high impulse noise.
Yes. Similar low-profile earmuffs are described as great for noisy household projects like saws and lawnmowers, and they fit the kind of general hearing protection used for yard work. At this price, they are also being bought as inexpensive backup pairs.
A customer photo reportedly shows the box marked 20 dB, which conflicts with the listing's 26 dB claim. That matters because the real attenuation could be lower than advertised, reducing how much noise protection you get.

Long time shooter and punk rocker show enjoyer here - i need constant background noise or else i'll hear the eeeeeee in one ear and the EEEEEE in the other ear combine to form eeeEEeeEeeEEeEEeEEeeE
I usually have foamies (or at least earbuds with silicone cups) on under muffs. and i still shoot outdoors and usually with suppressors on. e-walkers, e-peltors, and some old dumb champions that were 36nrr when i got them.
I do the same when weed whacking or mowing too because i got 2 acres to keep trim and its a few hours of work.
foams get old and crinkly, the sealing ring starts to get tough, bad seals happen, safety glasses sound gets through. buying good stuff means you're paying for better equipment and longer life before it starts to break down.
*i don't care much about 10 fingers or toes, but anything i have 2 of, and especially things i only have 1 of, i try to treat with care. yes i have a heated seat with washer and blowdryer...
Well.......
Let's talk normal guns.
Unsuppressed 5.56 is approximately 170 decibels.
Suppressed 5.56 is approximatively 135, give or take the quality of your suppressor.
Most other normal rifles run about the same volume level, give or take. 30/06, .270, 300 win mag, are all going to be in the 160 to 170 DB ballpark.
Little 22. long rifle average velocity runs about 140 DB, high velocity can be closer to 160 DB.
Most pistols are loud. 9mm is plenty loud, not as loud as a rifle, but still 150 to 160 DB. .45 is a little less loud. .357 is stupid loud.
.45 suppressed can be hearing safe, as can 9 mm subsonic and .22's.
Continuous noise of 100 DB is "hearing safe" for approximately 15 minutes
Any noise of 120 DB can cause instant irreversible damage.
Take the numbers above and subtract 26 DB from them to judge how much protection these muffs give you.
As with the other posters... it's plugs and muffs for me unless i'm shooting suppressed pistol, then it's nothing.
5.56 is closer to 160dBA SPL than 170, although it depends heavily on the barrel length.
100dB is not the hearing safe limit for 15 minutes (although, 100dB would be fine for 15 mins). OSHA sets that at 115dB for 15 minutes. Also, OSHA wants impulsive noises (e.g., gunshots) to be below 140dB.
Also, like I said, 'most' shooting applications. Obviously if you're shooting a 50BMG or something then you probably want to double up.
