The S220 SoloCam is a convenient solar outdoor camera that stands out for easy setup, no subscription, and solid performance in the right conditions. The solar panels can keep units running for long stretches, especially in low traffic areas, and it works well with HomeBase 3 for extra local storage and AI features. It can also run without HomeBase, though with fewer AI tracking abilities. Main limits are no 24 by 7 recording or RTSP, and battery or solar performance can struggle in cloudy, cold, or busier locations.

If you don't care about "owning your video", Eufy is still the best bang for your buck. I read some reviews on Reolink and there are complaints about their UI, and the cameras just literally cost more. I've never paid any subscription and not had any complaints with my Eufy cameras other than the AI being terrible. I assume the newer models may be better, but I'm not spending the money to find out since it's just an animal cam anyways.
Have u ever tried to contact Eufy support ? Its non existent... bots and email after another. Very Poor quality products ; audio on the cameras is crappy ... forced firmware upgrades ... no QA or i did send email for support ; just bots responding back and not reviewing the screen capture of issues

I bought a single S220 in Nov and it came with a really cheap plastic mounting piece. I can't say for sure if the 2-pack includes the mount, but I would expect it to.

There are actually several that can record 24x7 with a capture every second. Wyze's battery cam pro can record 24x7 on battery for a day or so. Tapo's can do the second capture, reolink has several models that can do 24x7 and last quite some time. So, consider your mind blown.
You say "for a day or so". So those actually have 24x1 or so ?

Where I live in the cold, cloudy northeast, the solar panels and/or batteries are undersized on this model. The older, larger S40/S230 did better.

Depends on the camera. Wyze? Just a day, Reolink? more.

And the snapshot every second lasts months for tapo cameras that can do that.

No, I haven't used the support. Like I said, we mostly use it to watch animals and see package drops, don't need high quality audio or anything fancy. Not sure what issues you faced, but it sounds like you'd probably want to pay more for higher quality cameras anyways. Eufy cameras compete with other entry-level surveillance, you can't expect high quality products at low level prices.

I never see the s340 on sale and looks like Costco stopped selling Eufy. Probably too many returns.

I'm not thrilled with Eufy's release-and-drop style of models. The outdoor lighting (motorized scronce/camera) was quite fetching -- I picked up 3 before they dropped off the face of the earth (it's like they got caught on Mission Impossible or something).

The spotlight cams (traditional-looking floodlight) have been replaced with the "LED MATRIX" interrogation lights, which are going to look dated as soon as some major player releases a new style.

I've picked up eufy deals in the past and been slow to put them up - I only realized that same-day different colors are different sub-models.

Where am I going with this? Solar+Eufy isn't something I would extend to (I have 4 doorbells, 3 home base, 1 4k indoor cam, 3 external ball cams, 4 internal 2k cams, 2 spotlight cams) so I'm kind of invested.

I got a few tiers into support and they have no plans to open-source old models (even drivers) so when support is up, it's up. They're pushing the web service even though they're not totally in-bed with it, but it's kind of going this way.

Eufy was definitely the go-to in "I'm way too lazy to homebrew" but I've been more cautious in the last year (almost bit on this one and decided I needed a better camera for conferencing instead of😁 ).

I started with Wyze, then tried Eufy and really like it. I've also got some Tapo and they are good. Wyze is absolute bottom of the barrel imo. I've got some cameras that face west and the Wyze sensors have burnt in a purple hue across 3 generations of their cameras, meanwhile my Eufy 2k has held up great. I've got one of these that I need to install. For this price, if you have a router with wifi network capable of reaching where you put these, they should work fine. POE is a different realm imo but if that's what you want then you shouldn't be looking at these. lol

I've been very disappointed with my Eufy camera systems. If I do it over again I'd rather go with a NVR and PoE type solution like Reolink.

Ways I've been disappointed by Eufy and Anker:
...
- No RTSP so you are locked into their system and app forever. You'll always be a second class user to them if you don't pay the subscription.

For a little more you could get a NVR with PoE cameras and not deal with any of that BS. Actually own your own video data.
It's not for the un-initiated but there's a project called thingio (firmware) that can be flashed a lot of IP cams (including few of these Eufy cams) in order to "free" them from being only accessible via the cloud/app.

Agreed on wired/PoE cams + NVR being WAY better.

I have 9 of the Eufy cameras with a Homebase. I've been adding cameras over the years. The first one still works fine. I had it for at least 4-5 years.

Just recently switched to a home-based from WiFi settings.

Can't be happier. No issues whatsoever.
I have 7 in use for a year, no issues but I did PlastiDip all my cameras because I read about them being prone to water damage over time as well as yellowing due to sun damage. No issues with any of them. They all connect fine and activate consistently when there is motion with the correct settings.

How do you manage to get WiFi signal for such large property
Not sure about that person, but I have a few routers daisy chained throughout my property(shed, guest house, pump house) and it basically covers the entire 3 acres. Especially with the shed, the interference is much lower when you have a smaller building. It was a necessary investment for us since 5G/LTE is really bad in my area.

I've contacted them 2 different times, once when my doorbell camera wouldn't connect the first month I setup my HomeBase3 and once when one of my S340's couldn't access live view the second month I setup my system. They fixed each problem that same day I contacted them. Haven't had an issue in the past 8 months with any of the cameras. I now reset my HomeBase about once a month just in case but I'm not sure if that helps at all. It only takes 10 seconds to press reset, and maybe 30 seconds for it to startup again and for all the cameras to auto-connect to it so I keep doing that as a preventative measure.
