Can the cleaning solution bottle be refilled? I'm wondering if I can use another cleaner or if I'm stuck with their brand. And can anyone recommend washable replacement pads?

Yes you can refill. It's easy and I have done it. Check youtube for step by step intructions. Or here is the link. I used boiling hot water, but it seems just very hot water works. https://www.google.com/search?q=r...ER8Sg,st:0

I like to get a cheap spray bottle from dollar tree or cheap pump sprayer from home depot, fill it with floor cleaning solution, pretreat where i'm about to clean, and then swiffer (mop) it up

That's the older WetJet version which required you to boil water and heat the cap. This new PowerMop is easier. I can just twist it off without any tools/boiling water.

Also, the older WetJet version cap started leaking after unscrewing it a few times.

I bought one of these from Lowe's (concord cali) last weekend for $10, YMMV. P&G sent out $10 off coupons for the starter kit that may be able to be used as well. Lowe's had the wood starter kits, as well as the wood refills and multi floor cleaner on clearance for half off. In the end I spent $50 for a starter kit, two sets of "wood" refill pads and 6 additional bottles of cleaning fluid. Check your Lowe's, and they can help make this deal slicker.

The caps pop right off of the bottles and go back on without trouble. I refill mine with Bona hardwood cleaner. No clogs or problems leaking.

Yes, I refill mine with Odoban. The first few times it's a bit of a pain to unscrew the top, but eventually it gets easier as it wears.
